Fitness journey

Just an update. Some more setbacks unfortunately. The more I move and do things, the worse the pain is. Grr.... Talked with my primary care Doctor and I'm maxed on pills to some degree. She approved twice a day pain meds ONLY as needed. I went to chiro last week and today. He said today my body was the MOST receptive he's seen to being adjusted. I didn't do crap this weekend beside sit around and do my yoga stretches. Apparently, that's my activity level at the moment.

Oh and today was fun. Chiropractor and then eye doctor. I ordered my first pair of glasses. Gee... great day. And yes, I did pour a glass of whiskey. Grumble, grumble.

Try not to get discouraged Tim. Sometimes less is more and your body needs some recovery time. This is from a person who doesn’t like rest days. I’m trying to see the light on some proper relax days with some stretches.

Merry Christmas to me!

I've narrowed my health issues down in recent months. First, it was the left leg being shorter than the right. Fixed that with a heel insert that I've since replaced with a whole shoe insert with a built-in heel .25 inch raised insert. Then, figured out I really have two issues: hip bursitis and the SI joint being out of whack which is nerve pain coming from my lower back. I've done research and talked with my doctor on both. The answer is walking and stretching. Sitting and driving for long periods are rough without getting a walk in.

We had a Horizon treadmill for 20 years and the last 2 years it went to crap. I tried to fix it and ordered a variety of parts. Found a new one at Dicks on sale for $500 and I couldn't pass it up. My son, wife and I did the 6 hour drive yesterday round trip to pick it up in the RHO. My son drove most of the way since we are trying to get his hours in for his license.

I've been walking a lot the last few months and have noticed several things. If I get more than 7k steps a day and stretch, I sleep past 2 am and wake up with less pain. I also cut my whiskey down to 2 shots maximum a night. If I walk less than 5k, who knows what will happen at night and it is usually all bad things with my drinking and eating fending off the pain.

Kind of crazy how it all boils down to just getting a 30 minute-minimum walk in. While I enjoy walking outside, an indoor treadmill is handy when I get busy during the day.

I don't like where the treadmill is at and will likely rearrange, but for now it works.
