The truth about 2024 Tacoma transmissions failing

I think a lot of the USA spec models are necessary to comply with US Govt safety requirements, bumper heights, etc, that makes the “world” vehicle unimportable to the USA. On top of that, the US incentivizes manufacturers who build vehicles using US labor on US soil. I don’t think they ever...

    Love/hate on third gen Tundra

These last few posts are a good reminder that ”new” isn’t always ”better”. I’ve owned all 3 gen tundras and the 3rd is the most sophisticated for sure, and also has far more glitches related to that sophistication, ie electronics, epa goals reducing durability of some components like bumpers...

Will the 24 Tundra fall under the recall???

That 1%will nag your mind while you sleep and in your quiet moments…forever….lol

2025 Ford Super Duty changes, prices and Platinum Plus

I like your bottom line on your article. To that I would add, due to all the extra electronics and fluff, it will be less durable and reliable, because it will. I think 22 was the best year for the super duty. Also, that front grill is no less hideous that it was in 23.

    .

I‘m patient and generally buy my vehicles with everything I want, so there’s only a few add on’s I’m interested in. In the case of my taco, I added: Oem ock rails. Pretty much it. I waxed it with some meguiars tech wax a few weeks ago…I’m boring i guess.

HP/Torq difference in 24 tacoma with Basic and Premium

I’ve never seen 85 octane. Here in california its 87, 89, or 91

The truth about 2024 Tacoma transmissions failing

Super smart idea. In the future, I’m not afraid of engine repair costs, it’s the electronics and screens that concern me.

All new trucks are junk these days?

Are you kidding? 99% of TY commenters are aged 6-10 and have never driven a car or truck outside of a video game. At least, that’s how they come off.

All new trucks are junk these days?

My personal take is that average reliability for cars and trucks across all brands is much higher than it used to be. It’s notable that there are far fewer defects than there used to be while incorporating the EPA efficiency and US Govt safety mandates and consumer technology expectations. It’s...

GX550 vs Land Rover Defender - Car and Driver

I thought this was a pretty good comparison. Enjoy! https://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/comparison-test/a62069880/2024-land-rover-defender-130-vs-2024-lexus-gx550/

    Recalls and reliability

You can’t buy what doesn’t exist. A no issue Truck. So you have to make your choices from some hard and some anecdotal evidence. 22+ tundra: Serious Engine issues. Unknown whether it’s been resolved 24 forward. 21+ F150’s: Problems all around that still remain unresolved in 2024. Broken AC...

Do you agree with the NACTOY Truck of the Year semi-finalists?

I’d agree with the Tacoma on its merits. The msrp is just that, suggested. Dealers are leading with 3k discounts everywhere in California. 5-6k discounts can be had if you are a patient negotiator. I haven’t seen this level of discounting with the ranger or canyon in my area. I would suggest a...

The truth about 2024 Tacoma transmissions failing

I’m on the list. Things working fine so far. Good to know if that changes they have a defined process to address. Also have several other vehicles, so I won’t be put in a transportation pickle.

    RAM/Jeep 1.2 million vehicles recalled

Ford still hasn’t solve problems in their 24’s that first appeared in their 21 launch vehicles. Ford had/has the highest warranty cost of all domestics. Not a good look on the F150.

    Modern advertising culture sucks

Geez, so true. I upgraded paramount plus to get out of ads, and they still show their own ads for their shows. Ugh.

    But turbo engines don't fail!

I read auto news a lot. One thing I know for sure is every vehicle has at least one issue that develops over time, even the claimed bullet proof ones. It’s a fact of life that vehicle engineering goal is “good enough”, not “perfect”.

    Modern advertising culture sucks

This crosses the line and if brought to reality, I’ll never buy another Ford. That said, I know companies patent all kinds of ideas just to claim them, not necessarily to use them.

    2025 Nissan Armada Pro4x

I considered a Titan XD for towing our horse. What I found from the 22 Pro 4x I drove was a truck with the weight, heavy steering, and rough ride of a super duty without the capability of the most capable 1/2 tons, f150 with max trailer tow pack towed 2k more than the Titan and drove 100%...

    But turbo engines don't fail!

I admit being skeptical at first because of the 80’s-90’s generation of turbos. But now half my vehicles have turbos and I just have to hope they are more reliable now.

    But turbo engines don't fail!

22+ Tundra and 22+ Tacoma also spec 0w-20. There was some speculation that too thin oil going 10k oci’s were contributing to the blown bearings. hard to prove though.
