    XPEL PPF and ceramic coating

Hey Tim, now that you’ve had the PPF on the truck for awhile what are your thoughts on it?

Hey Tim, Just to close this off. I did have it fade out on me today as well. As a work around I reloaded the page and if I could click the continue button on the open chrome app prompt fast enough everything would work fine if I delayed that prompt would disappear and I could not interact with...

Another POV on the loss of basic features on vehicles

Nice article… eye opening for improvements over the years on how cars are made. It’s funny I owned a version of a pictured vehicle: mine was a 1980 Mazda GLC(bought used, my third car). You couldn’t get more basic than that car. 4645 in 1980 and $17700 in 2024 dollars. No air, manual...

    Ask an Engineer anything

It was a good video. I know you had to keep it pretty general due to liabilities and marketing impact. It’s interesting the number of negative comments that just run through the same old things over and over. Even if you show most people data that the new vehicles are more reliable most won’t...

    Ask an Engineer anything

I didn’t want to quote you in case I misunderstood the silo reference. But I assumed that’s what you meant… and I totally agree.

    Ask an Engineer anything

The vehicle manufacturer probably tries to keep the engineer isolated and working on only the specs management gives them. Similar to a lot of dealer experiences where they don’t want you to interact with the mechanic. As a retired IT guy we would develop systems according to specs given but...

    Ask an Engineer anything

It is interesting. I’m thinking about what questions I’ve had over the years (because I have owned 4 dodge/ram trucks in a row starting in 2002). This is without asking any trap questions. Feel free to ignore all of these. First a comment: there’s a reason I’ve stuck with Ram… I’ve had excellent...

Hey Tim, the problem we discussed before came back again. I can still use my duck duck go browser. It only happens to me in google chrome and only when I open one of your forum discussions. Maybe it’s just me…lol

    Next-gen 2027 Silverado spied

The diesel is a great workhorse and gives GM such great flexibility. I’m sure a lot of buyers want a diesel or they aren’t pulling the trigger. It is tough to see through the Camo. I’ve liked the looks of a lot of the recent GM trucks. Hopefully that continues.

    Fitness journey

I hope you are feeling better Tim. Hopefully, they can give you some relief from your pain. The fitness journey is an ever evolving struggle. You have to find a balance and approach that fits your personality and lifestyle. You mentioned way back that you are cooking now. Me too. My wife and I...

Here’s how Trump Tariffs will impact your new truck purchase

You’re absolutely right… I had a weak moment. I want to fast forward to spring to see how the Tariffs work out and to get rid of this snow.

Here’s how Trump Tariffs will impact your new truck purchase

Generally, I despise this whole situation. I dislike politics and posturing. I view all politicians as different heads on the same snake. On the vehicle front I don’t like that no matter what happens this will inflate vehicle costs. Any reasonable negotiations on tariffs would go through no...

I think my direct flight from Montreal to Athens Greece was 9 hours. Crazy Tim. I feel for you. Airports are never fun. I am 2.5 hours from the airport though.

Interview with Stellantis engineer tomorrow on Ramcharger

That would be an interesting test. I believe truck king also mentioned that they tested it with no battery charge up the Davis Dam grade towing 14000lbs (2950 feet in 11.4 miles). I assume that’s pretty steep. I was curious just like you where the pentastar rpms will be when on maximum draw. I...

Interview with Stellantis engineer tomorrow on Ramcharger

This might be a dumb question.. .but with this setup (no starter, generator used to start the engine) what is the procedure to start the vehicle if the battery is dead for some reason? Unless I missed it there is no standard battery. I realize the system is designed to prevent this from...

Top 5 common things new truck buyers get wrong on forums/social media

Hey Tim, This is an interesting idea. Most of my comments have been covered by others above. #2- I’m still in this camp if it’s a totally new model or it’s a new power plant. I just want to see if there’s any glaring issues or if it doesn’t perform as advertised before my purchase. I always...

Most reliable new full-size trucks plus expected lifespan

lol, that reminds me of 4 cars that went to the scrap heap for me. 1975 mercury comet(rusted and needed more parts than it was worth), 1975 mercury monarch(same as the comet), 1980 Mazda GLC(post it note colour…yech.. freeway driving and rust killed it), and a 1989 mustang fox body with a 4...
