I know that Kia will do well because they are established. Slate is an upstart with big backing, for now, that is showing a vehicle that the passionate have been wanting. That's what going to make it interesting for me. Are there enough buyers out there who will pay for a S-10/Ranger/early Tacoma single cab pickup truck? Will that bed be long enough? I've already heard complaints that it's not a true six foot bed on other sites.

It's going to be interesting.

Here’s my question: who is the target customer? It sounds good in principle, but I’ve done videos on ideas like it and people have been meh about it.

To have any real sales it would have to be a crew cab, I prefer regular cabs but thats not where the sales are.
Its going to be funny in the future when the government does the same thing to electric vehicles that they did to ICE with fuel economy ratings, the proposal for a feasability study is probably on some EPA workers computer right now.

From what I've seen, about a third of Autopian readers. Figure about a quarter of them will actually buy one.

Not much of a market.

There is the fleets though. You don't need a crew cab to deliver parts.

Pretty interesting little truck/SUV. We think there is no market but look at what the Maverick has done. This just takes it one step further. This has everything that people say they want but none of the fancy stuff that they whine about: Three knob HVAC with no screen. Doesn't even have an infotainment system other than what you put in it, not even speakers. And it has rollup windows! Sure, it's only a 150mi range and can only tow 1000 lbs. It would actually work pretty well for a commuter or work truck. The tricky part is that the price is around $27K as they are counting on the $7500 tax cut to get under $20K.
