Hey Tim
This has been in the works for a few years and pulled the trigger May 1 on a High Country 3.0 w/ max tow for future cross country RVing.
Took delivery yesterday. I based the order on your reviews and passion for the 3.0 you had for it since it came out.
I looked and the rear axle is fully coated with something. not bare steel. The seating is firm ,which I like, but comfortable. Need a 3+ hr run to prove it out. But I am 6'2"
The electronics in this is over the top. The last PU I had access to was my fathers 1982 ish F150 back in 1982. Been in the VW and the last one an Audi camp since. Will do an update once I get some miles on the Silverado.

The last pickup I owned prior to getting my AT4 3.0L in January was an '86 Dodge Power Wagon which I sold somewhere around 30 years ago. Back before RAM was a brand. The intervening time was VW, Nissan, Audi, Toyota. Congratulations on tbe new truck. Love my 3.0L.

Here is your pic.. The sun was going down that gave it the orange tint. Its a east coast truck, those are boats in the background.
Gave it an hour drive yesterday, was getting 32.5 MPG cruising at 60! With barely over 100 miles on it.
Need a larger under seat rear storage compartment, Any recommendations? I see a few available. Then a tri fold tonnneau cover.

Here is the 6 mo update. I love it. Did a couple of 400 mile road trips, super comfortable, can sit all day in it. Added a rear under seat big bin for stuff. Solid BAKflip Tonneau cover, Cap for the diesel fill, and just installed a Banks idash. The oil was overfilled from the factory, from what i have read is typical. Did not see any usage until about 4500 mi. Just had the free dealer oil change just shy of 5k, with a gallon of DEF which brought it up to half full. No issues reported or found. It did take about 3k miles for the engine and transmission to learn itself (as per the manual) As Tim said, regen is a non issue. Could only tell when the idle was high at a stop and the smell. (now I have the idash). Seems to regen about twice a tankfull, more with short drives and the cold. Off the line its a beast with that low end torque. On my 12 mile commute, I hit 24 MPG. 30 on the hwy. I made a good choice.

I did 4+ hrs nonstop w/ no issue. Prefer the "firm" seat. I remember my fathers early 80's F150 and the bench seat. It was horrible on the lower back. Needed a cushion for long drives. And they drove that all over the country.

Was this your first time with a diesel? Just curious mostly. I have found my videos have turned a lot of people onto a diesel for the first time and I'm always curious how the experience has been getting fuel, etc...

You almost made me buy a Chevy or GMC with the 3.0! I even test drove a bunch and was ready to make a move. Then I slept on it, and I can't have the regen system throw a code when I'm in the middle of nowhere. The closest GM dealership is almost 300 miles away when I'm moose hunting and the towing expenses would kill any benefits from the fuel economy. But man it's a nice engine.

It started years ago when my father had a 70's VW Rabbit diesel w/ 48 glorious hp. This was shortly after the oil embargo and gas lines.
When I got to use it before my own car, I could drive it all day and barely move the fuel gauge. If I had to I would put 1$ in. Later in life I had a inboard diesel 28' sailboat (virtually all are 1 to 4 cyl diesel) It was only a 2cyl 10hp marine-ized kubota lawn tractor engine. Its still running after 40yrs. The only repairs I did were waterpumps. I know two with diesel PU's One had a 1st gen Ram Eco and another still has a F150 Powerstroke. Both of those engines are gone leaving the 3.0 GM which after 4yrs on the market seems to be debugged. Yes it has an extra layer of emissions with sensors but all have such a complex electrical systems with failure points galore. Would love to see the warranty data overall.
6 months into this its just like a normal engine. Fuel is around the corner which I is about every 3 weeks do to the range. I have a pair of gloves for the slimy pump handle (a truck driver tip). Will be in the single digits next week so will see how it starts without plugging it in. I'm twice the MPG of my friends gas PU's around town. Hwy is where this engine shines.

Put the truck to the test. Picked up the Rockwood 2109s at the dealer in PA. Was probably 4900 lb with water and propane , 500 on the BlueOx track pro anti sway hitch. Towed with 2 fingers on the wheel.
Has a 200 mile drive back roads, rollinghills and interstate through NJ then up I87.
The outdoor temperature was 98 to 100 all the way. It was happy at 1600 rpm in tenth. Would drop down to 9 or 8 on the grades to maintain 60. Was watching the Temps on the iDash. Trans didn't budge from normal . This engine normally runs hot, 220. Oil was running 235, seeing 240 on the head, water temp was normal.
Tons of low end power in the torque peak. To top it off, 15 mpg for 200 mi. I want to see this on a flat road
