Here’s how Trump Tariffs will impact your new truck purchase

Generally, I despise this whole situation. I dislike politics and posturing.
I view all politicians as different heads on the same snake.
On the vehicle front I don’t like that no matter what happens this will inflate vehicle costs. Any reasonable negotiations on tariffs would go through no problem but there seems to be a need for drama.

On the politics front the attempts to undermine Canada’s sovereignty are serious (this is part of what is talked about in every negotiation phone call).

The smoke and mirror show also distracts the American people from what is being done domestically. A lot of these moves could be viewed as a way to ignore the constitution and stay in power after his term. I fear for America’s democratic system.

Okay, soap box permanently put away. I’m going to find something funny on YouTube that isn’t political comedy.

Couldn't agree more. Between the political posturing and the corporate greed, it's difficult not to get worked up about it. But by far the scariest is the removal of any potential adversaries within the govt agencies. So many historical precedents of the same actions that turned ugly. Complete power is corrupt power. Always has been, always will be.

No, I would say you had a sane moment. 👍 It’s really hard to stay silent when chaos is rampant. I very much appreciate that this forum sticks to its intended topics but I also appreciate folks take on the country’s current state of affairs as long as it doesn’t descend into some type of hate speech nonsense. It’s hard not to vent your feelings about what’s happening.
I appreciate that and I totally agree on all points.

I'm wondering if the $4k-$10k will be directly passed on to the consumer. In some instances I would guess it would, but in others, I could see a return to actually being able to get a deal on a new truck. They will have to stay in competition with eachother and I could see price being a factor in that..especially for RAM.
They have to stay in competition with each other, but they also need to make $$. Trucks are traditionally the biggest money makers for OEMs, so there is probably a little wiggle room. But I think that $4k to $10k takes into account the wiggle. Consider that a base work truck costs about $40k, and that's in a regular-cab standard-bed configuration, 25% of that is $10k, and maybe the automaker will eat 50% of that, you're still looking at a $5k increase on the most basic of full-size trucks.
