Truck is finally home. Drove the 2.5 hours back from the dealer with no further issues. Everything was covered under warranty. I still need to deal with GM for the trip interruption costs, but thats already in the works.

It's possible he said transmission cooler lines. The video is a litttle garbled and I haven't seen the work order yet. I spoke to the shop yesterday. They told me they are still waiting on one part that will hopefully be in today.

It was a cool move on the dealers part. I was a bit uncomfortable leaving my truck with an unknown dealer 300 miles from home, but them sending me the video, and getting my truck into the shop earlier than expected set has gone a long way to setting my mind at ease.

Just got some good news. Dealer got the truck in today to inspect. The transmission controller lines need to be replaced. The lines have been ordered and should be in tomorrow. Dealer actually sent me a video of the underside of the truck. Everything will be covered under warranty.

It should be covered under warranty. I've already laid out some cash for a rental car to get back home. I'll call the dealership tomorrow and see if GM is going to reimburse me any of that cost.

I've been happy with the MultiPro on my AT4. I didn’t think I'd like it as much as I do at first, but after using it I'm sold. I not doing any towing so damaging it on a hitch hasn't been a concern.

How? It proves that those trucks were easy enough to maintain that dedicated owners, who likely have gone above and beyond normal maintainance have been able to keep them on the road. While this does speak highly of the reliability of the trucks from the 70's I do not see how it proves...

My understanding is the transmission's not going away, just the Allison badging on the HD's. While this is likely to save GM what ever costs they were paying Allison to use their brand, I do wonder if the loss of the badging will have a negative effect on sales. This may turn into a headache...
