Yep, there's a stop sale on the 2024 Colorado

Saw the same story on Auto News mentioned by @Honcho in his thread. It's a software issue with no details given. Makes us wonder if this is at all related to the the software issues we saw with the 2023 model. 🤔 Anyone out there affected by the stop sale?

Jill!! I was wondering if we were going to see you on the forum. Like your style!

All of these software issues are really turning me off from the colorado/canyon when my lease is up. It seems like it's only getting worse.
This is one of the reasons I think car manufacturer should stick with physical controls for important things like speed, rpm, fuel, etc.

I almost feel like, especially in the truck segment, there should always be at least one trim that doesn't have any screens or tech whatsoever. I was at the 2025 Ram 1500 launch last week, and it has A LOT of screens. Someone asked what this was going to look like in 10 years, and it really made me think. Especially as I'm currently doing some freelance work on 2014 model year vehicles, and I'm like day-um, that looks dated. And it all has to do with the screens.

2014: Last year for the GMT 900 Tahoe and Suburban and last year period for the Avalanche. Sad Year for Chevy, at least in my opinion. Dash not obscured by screens in the face like now...To quote Jezza, "A Dashboard from the Romulans"

They're too far gone to go back on screens now. Especially with the better cameras. And NHTSA allowed cameras to stay on while driving? Next will be the replacement of the side view mirrors and just stalks with cameras on them displaying that view on the dash.

This is how Atlis truck proposed to do it. I thought that would work well. Utilizing unused space at each end of the gauge panel.

And Audi is actually doing this style in Europe. (The US still requires a physical mirror by law) The passenger view is in the passenger door. I think I'd like both of them in the dash better.

When merging, I don't want a camera or a BSMS, I want to look over the left shoulder for unfiltered use of this piece of equipment:

Unfortunately this piece of equipment is connected to a brain which may or may not be focused on what the sensor “sees”.
True in a lot of cases. Tonight, the Mark I connection with the analog Natural Intelligence (NI) Electro Flesh module worked and I braked in time to prevent hitting the guy who stopped... In the middle of the road...To turn around for a Girl Scout cookie stand that was being set up!

Hell, how can most of these people see through all that damn limo tint they put on everything today!

We all have our opinions obviously. I like the new tech like BSMS and the camera popping on when changing lanes especially with towing. I actually made a big deal about this in the towing video for the 2025 Ram 1500. I thought the towing mirrors actually created more blind spots than helped and the camera showed a clearer image when turning. I'm still irritated at Ram PR for not hooking up a camera on the trailer to show off the trailer camera in the mirror. Why talk about a feature and then not show it at a national press launch event???

I saw that video where you demonstrated the towing mirrors, and maybe it was just the position of the camera but I didn't see the image in the mirror providing more visibility beside the trailer when it was extending; I just saw the same image sliding back and forth.

My 2019 has the standard mirrors and my trailer is the typical 8 foot wide, I bought clips ons from Amazon and used them once or twice, but I don't even really need them. I rely a lot on that little curved section of the mirror and find that the mirrors are more than sufficient.

Adding cameras would be cool and more effective than big bulky mirrors that obstruct your vision and increase drag on the truck. They all look terrible too lol, doesn't matter weather its fords/gms/ram's half ton with towing mirrors, they all look goofy.

I'm in the process of installing an aftermarket camera on the rear of my trailer and I'll mount a monitor for that in my cab, hang it off the mount at the top of the dash. Less effective in traffic but really looking forward to that when backing into campsites or in busy gas stations etc.

Excellent point. Screens that were cutting edge look janky after 5 to 6 years. How am I going to turn on the AC when the screen stops working and is not being produced anymore?

I'm worried about the used car market as the people that rely on it will be more and more shit out of luck as we go tech intense.

It's all I ever used. My old deck-over enclosed trailer was 8.5' wide. All I could see was straight down the side. Those clip-ons at least allowed me to see a little bit behind the trailer but not much. No way I'd order the new Ram with those mirrors though.

I think the new "add-on" camera systems are the best way to go for wide trailers. Or the stock trailer camera systems. It is interesting that Toyota is offering a trailer camera system in the Taco even though they never really market towing.

I tow my trailer with the standard GMC mirrors, no clip ons or extensions. I have the ability to add the invisible trailer system or an integrated back/reversing trailer camera. I had every plan of doing so when I purchased in 2021 but now I don't really see the point. I see fine towing on the freeway and have two kids (plus two more in another vehicle) to get out and help back me up if needed. When in tow mode and the blinker is activated my screen changes and shows me a side view down the truck and trailer from each side mirror, works flawlessly.

All this new trailer tech is nice but I don't really see the value in it, and that's coming from someone who really appreciates truck tech.

To Jill's point, backup cameras are mandated by law in all 2018(?)+ cars and trucks so unfortunately we're getting a screen whether we like them or not, even in the most basic truck.

I don't think its the screen itself that makes a car look dated, more the fact that in the past they were closer to black and white with poor readability and potato quality cameras.

We're at the point now where the screens and cameras look and function great, so that leaves software updates as the big question mark. And that's why I prefer systems with Android Auto/Car Play because the navigation and many apps can be updated on a regular basis regardless of what the truck manufacturer says. I always have the latest and greatest software now in my truck for what matters; maps, media player etc. If the other controls like hvac or turning on heated seats doesn't update ever again I won't care because it all works flawlessly anyway.

But map updates are crucial if we plan to drive the truck for 15+ years. And I refuse to subscribe to features in a truck, anything like that can take a quick hike off a cliff, there is no excuse for that nonsense.

I don't think I've used the included Navigation in my truck once in the last 3 years. Wireless Android Auto only.

Agreed. Now that I have a 7' wide enclosed trailer, I only use my stock mirrors. I actually still have clip-on for a 4th gen as well as 5th gen Rams I need to sell. When backing up, you always need a guide anyway. When on the road, I just want to see my blind spot to make sure I have room to pull into the other lane. What is directly behind me does not affect that.

I was always curious, with that "invisible trailer" mode GM markets, how does that work? Do you need to install a camera to the back of your trailer? Is it wireless or wired?

It is typically wired GMC give us two extra plug ins for cameras (similar to others now) that if used show the camera through your infotainment screen with the rest of the camera views instead of using a separate screen. It actually works pretty slick and works well. I've seen it a few different times in demos. I had a small 19' trailer and when we traded that in on our 29' I had planned on getting the camera and setting it up.

I picked the new trailer up in Spokane which is about 4-5 hours east of me in WA over the mountains. I drove it home and the whole time I was thinking about, and getting excited, about some mods extended mirrors, invisible camera etc. At the end of the trip I didn't think I HAD to have it. I could see fine. It could also be that the 6.2 GMC is a pullig beast and the most stable I've felt with a big travel trailer in any half ton. I have the standard bed which for GMC is the longer bed, I know that helps alot compared to the normal crew short bed. So, what I'm saying is I was really comfortable... I've towed when I wasn't as comfortable and the general mild anxiety might have been helped with extended mirrors or the invisible system.

Reading the "stop sale" from GM sounds pretty bad. Not sure if that is the issue with the 2024s as well. The front camera causing inadvertent engagement of the emergency braking mode is definitely not good. It read there were 5 accidents and 3 injuries associated with it. That's gonna go over like fart in church.....
