Not sure I would give Kuniskus too much credit on this one. For all we know he's been lobbying to cancel this also and go all in on Hemi. Possible only credit he deserves is some compromise to not kill and instead just ghost launch it with zero of the hemi hype he did as seems to be happening.
I hope the tech is a winner so it will become more common. We all know if it sells, the other brands will jump all over it. The question will be, what will the other makers use for the gas engine portion? GM the 2.7? Seems too complicated for the simple requirement. The old GM 4.3L would make a great choice. Ford? Same boat, they just have high-end turbos. Toyota same.
I would think the same, however, the 3.0L Duramax has been a winner and everyone has abandoned that segment. Also, it took everyone a decade to get onboard with the EcoBoost type of small displacement turbocharged engine.
For as fast paced as this industry seems as times, it also moves very slowly.
Diesel EREV would be awesome, even though the prices right now on the stuff mostly kill all their advantages...but with EREV you don't use much and technically that fuel is way more stable so not getting it used out through the year would be less problematic.
