Worst Q1 since 2020

I thought I'd share that I crunched the numbers and the YouTube revenue had its worst Q1 since 2020. The market uncertainty is causing much of the problem. I talked with several other channels and they have all experienced the same things. Revenue is down 10-40% for some channels with the same amount of views.

With the tariffs taking effect tonight and the advertising spending in the crosshairs for most automakers, I expect this trend to continue. I'm now forecasting my worst year in business in the past 5 years.

I've expanded into doing a lot of product reviews and signing sponsorship deals to make up for the revenue hit. I don't love reviewing yet another portable jump starter and I hope you understand what is going on at the moment. Thanks for your support as always.

I decided to undelete this post I wrote a a while ago. Why? I keep getting people who are surprised my business has been affected by the tariffs. Uh, yeah, it has without a doubt.

Between the tariffs, my physical health and the poor start of the year for the business, things aren't exactly amazing right now.

Another possible downturn is people shopping for a new truck have removed themselves from the market, things like economy, interest rates and for sure tariffs, thus stopping using sites for research till things pick up and become stable again, I do know one person who has done just that, I myself like to keep using the sites for latest news, tech and problems regardless of make and model, I have zero interest in purchasing an EV truck, but I do like to keep on top the who, what, where and why info on these things.

That's exactly what I'm seeing and others. Views are down for many and ad rates are also down. I just read a story on CNBC, I'll put a link below that dealer inventories are starting to shrink. People bought up the supply prior to the tariffs and now demand is waning. Plus, vehicles are now sitting at the ports.

I also setup an RSS feed update for the court case with Nexteer and Primax. I want to be on top of ANY updates. I think GM is just the tip of the iceberg for issues with suppliers fighting amongst themselves. That could also drive down inventory making perspective buyers sit on the sidelines and wait it out.

Wait it out is bad for my business like a car dealer. No shoppers aka viewers and lower ad rates. Fortunately, I have aftermarket companies I'm working with the best I can to fill the void.

People I know—including myself—who were in the market for a new vehicle are putting off buying American-made ones, which for us includes nearly all pickups and SUVs, or are actively looking for alternatives. When I talk to friends and coworkers, there’s a clear drop in interest in anything made on the other side of the border.

I’ve been searching for an SUV that fits my needs and has a serial number that doesn’t start with “1” (which indicates it’s made in the U.S.), but I haven’t found many options. The Toyota 4Runner, which starts with a “J” for Japan, is one of the few.

What I find sad in all of this is that it’s the hardworking people who end up paying the price. The rich billionaires will keep living in their castles, watching the down and up of the market to make millions.

Just to be clear, you are Canadian?

Yes, from the day I was born :)
I've been following the Canada news closely from both sides to be honest. I've watched a lot of CBC broadcasts and TV news from Montana, Michigan and Maine. I want to see how both sides are going to play this out. It is interesting to watch how things have played out.

The other interesting interactions have been what is going on in Florida. The tourism down there is taking a beating with the Canadian snowbirds going elsewhere. One of the hotel owners said Americans are now filling in the listing instead. I find that suspect, but I have no way to fact check it. I just sip my whiskey and watch.

Speaking of, dammit, I've had some thoughts on changing my whiskey up due to tariffs. I haven't yet, but it sure sounds like I'm going to have to pay attention.

As someone who grew up in Michigan and has many Canadian friends, this whole thing makes me sick to my stomach. I love Canada. I hope both countries come out stronger from this period of time.

I'd have to think what I buy besides whiskey that comes from Canada. Hmm... What have you found?
I had a moment of sarcastic *******. Nothing, that was the point. I drink local macro beer and bourbon, so no affect there.

I keep reading about Candians boycotting American goods and I chuckle. Then, when it comes to vehicles I remember many of your videos about how so many of them aren't very american regardless of final assembly location. All of these companies are global. I ask myself if they're going to get rid of their iphones PC's or laptops running windows but they keep posting online about boycotts so I guess not.

Its in your gas tank, lots of it, only believe .5% what the CBC says, there are only four good things the CBC had and they blew it, Hockey Night in Canada, Olympic Game Coverage, Red Green and the Trailer Park Boys, my American cousin and many of his friend's would sign up with their cable or sat provider to get the CBC during the games, they would have to pay for one month minimum. from their provider, the cost was something like $5, the games coverage was huge, the other country coverages was huge for the fact they dropped many of their regular time programming for the games programming, and the commercials were minimum. We're having our federal election April 28th, till then nothing much is going to happen, I buy my usual, but I do watch for Made in China markings, its hard to avoid, but I try, I have a problem with stuff coming out of there.

Man I’m a huge Red Green fan! I grew up with him and Don Cherry broadcasting hockey games.
