As a creative writer I find that my best ideas hit me between 8 and 9 am which sucks because I'm at work. I end up just writing down the thought for later.
This made me wonder if this happens to you two. Do you have specific times when you are the most inspired and can you act on it or do you have to wait before hitting those keys?
I’m a morning to noon person. After lunch I’m not that great and I’m thinking of picking up my kids, dinner or getting stuff done around the house. Or I’ll go play golf. I found sitting around staring at my computer screen trying to be creative is worthless to me.
When I golf or when I used to go for a bike ride, I often come home with some ideas. Just need that mental break.
I don’t do late nights and that makes it tough on me for Livestreams at times when I’m spent creatively.
A few times a year, I’ll get really inspired and whip out a 2k word post in an hour or so. Those are rare days. I do think some of those posts are my best.
Other days, like today, I’ll get curious about something like the most recalls for 2024 article I put out. Those days, it feels like I have blinders on and I have zero tolerance for disruptions. That’s how into it I get.
I do think it’s weird to be a “creative.” It just doesn’t feel like work. I miss the days of retail labor or manual labor at times. Just feels different. Hard to explain.
Jill’s taking some time with her family. I’ll be curious her thoughts when she gets back.
