Truck spotting in Key West

My wife and I just got back from there and I took a few pictures along the way. While I did see some midsized pickups, mainly Tacoma's, I was surprised by the number of heavy duty trucks out there.

They mostly all look like work trucks but I am surprised at the pictures anyway showing a lack of midsize.

You are correct. They are mainly work trucks on the side of the road. I was also very surprised by the lack of midsized trucks. I did count five Tacomas on the ride back and two Mavericks. I think part of the reason for the number of full sized rigs is how many were towing boats. Big ones with expensive outboards.

Towing boats can sure put you into some high numbers pretty quickly. Just the trailers can weigh quite a bit. I can see wanting a heavy duty truck for a lot of those costal boats even if technically some 1/2 tons could do it. You don’t want to be towing near your limit very often.
