I remember when I was in Marine Corp bootcamp one of my fellow recruits was prior Army and had an Army tattoo. The DI's were surprisingly chill about it. They gave him a bit of crap but let it drop pretty quickly.
Knew a fellow Marine in Cali back in the 80's that had a nice green 69 Charger and had a tattoo of it across his chest. Well, being young and dumb, he wrapped it around a pole one night. And put a nice scar across the front end of his tattoo.
