RHO for Tim

Yeah that's rough when you don't have much else to do while waiting. For those 4 day or longer stays, I always booked something like the Hyatt House. More of an apartment than anything. Plus great breakfast and a bar.

My god....people wonder how Mark Dodge does it. Just the background of your video shows it. Sell multiple trucks a day, each one with very little profit, you end the year happy. Selling very few for max profit is the same. But you cannot afford to miss one single sale.

Well this is going to be something. I dropped the truck off at XPEL this morning. They are sponsoring a ceramic coating and paint protection film for the truck. Cool! Except it takes 3 days and won’t be done until Thursday afternoon. I’m booked at my home away from home for 4 nights. Stopped at Buc-ees for food and drinks to bide my time. I’ve never been in a hotel room this long. Plus, it’s cold as hell in Dallas for the next few days with a winter weather advisory starting Wednesday through Friday morning. Going to try to not go stir crazy.

That’s a long time at a hotel. Find some attractions to hit in Dallas. Someone suggested a distillery tour…that sounds promising. The truck looks Badass.

Love the video! Personally, I'm glad Ram went through your truck with a fine-tooth comb. They know how public a life this truck is going to have. Of course, that doesn't mean thing can't happen. I still remember the fiasco that happened over at Car and Driver when they did a long-term test of the alfa Romeo Gulia.

The aftermarket spray on bedliner sounds interesting. Will you be adding extra tiedown points as well. I saw spots where you can attach them.

interesting point on the tie downs. I hadn't noticed. Easy to add.

So, big day today sitting around my Holiday Inn Express “suite.” Got up, had the free so-so breakfast. Drove to XPEL to drop off truck and had a hilarious Uber ride back with a guy from Scotland. Shared my only friend I know from that area Lauren Baures and she’s a badass who plays bag pipes. He shared he once had a black guy in a group of 6 pull a gun on him, so he got out and told the guy, “you better kill me or I’ll kill you.” They ran off. Bullet, dodged.

Sat in the office chair and did work until my butt hurt.

Moved to the couch. Felt like a lazy-ass. Walked nearly 3 miles on the treadmill. Ate a crappy roll up I got from Buc-ees.

Sat back in office chair and talked to my new friend Jeff Merrithew for over an hour on the amazing world of YouTube. Stared at the metal roofing.

Contemplated getting ice for my whiskey. That was 2 o’clock in the afternoon.

Ate a spoonful of peanut butter I snagged from breakfast like a good health conscious person Jill Ciminillo would do instead of say, literally any other junk food from hotel grab and go.

Thought about that whiskey.

Took a shower, moved back to the couch. Played a video game.

Poured the damn whiskey.

Contemplated Why TF my combo heater/ac unit is so damn loud. Considered what tools “maintenance” would have.

Drank a whiskey.

Closed the blinds because obviously being blinded by the sunshine is stupid and I’m not stupid.

Made my bed.

Organized my room.

Played a video game after reading all the wonderful YouTube comments I could stand.

Poured another drink.

Contemplated if it’s the 2nd drink or the fact my TV is crooked. Considered raiding maintenance stash for a level to confirm.

Thought about going for a walk in the parking lot. Then remembered It’s cold and I don’t want to.

Decided I’m never waiting three days in a hotel for work to be done on my truck no matter the benefits.

Probably pouring another whiskey and eating a sandwich later with my crooked TV.

Thanking the lord Paul M. Williamsen is thinking about coming by tomorrow to take me to lunch.

Made the business decision I shouldn’t respond to anymore comments tonight on forums or YouTube. The term “dumbass” is flowing too easily across my lips.

Seriously considered if I bought a big enough whiskey bottle.

Put PJs on. Well that was really done at 10 am.

Switched spots on the couch.

Thought about sitting in the weirdly shaped chair in the room. Nah.

Yup, one hell of a busy day.

So is XPEL wrapping the entire truck or just the hood? Getting a ceramic whole truck treatment by professionals is not cheap and we are looking forward to the video(s) (hopefully). Make a list of all the videos you want to shoot and ask the forum members for any ideas.
I actually don’t really know. We had a few phone calls, emails, etc… and it’s hazy. They did send in a video guy to shoot everything, I just have to wait it out.

I like the idea of getting the new ride up on a lift and go through the underside sort of like the Car Care Nut. That’s something that would help potential buyers because we don’t have lifts and I have never crawled under a truck at a dealership to investigate what it looks like.
Funny you mention that. I talked with XPEL today about doing that exact video. Their store is about damn perfect for video. He said no problem. Bonus video!

Is there a top golf in Dallas or nearby? ;)
The whole area is under a winter weather warning.

I’m heading to “the Shop Club” with a friend today for lunch. Car club with restaurant.

Then, I’ll head to another friend’s house this afternoon. She has some honey dos she needs done.

Just a historical note. The French government actually funded the colony’s war of independence from the British. Ben Franklin spent a significant effort in convincing the French government to fund our war and without that infusion of cash the US might still be a British colony. Food for thought.
If anyone is curious or bored, check out the short history of podcast and find the whiskey rebellion podcast. It’s an amazing history lesson.

XPEL called and they are going to be pulling a late shift to get my truck done. Big snow storm coming through Dallas and up to Oklahoma. I'm picking my truck up maybe at 8 am if all goes well. I need to do the undercarriage video then I'm coming back to the hotel and getting the hell on the road. I'm thinking Amarillo then up through Colorado to bypass the storm. With any luck I'll be home by 11 pm. There might be a few monster energies involved who knows. Wish me luck. Tomorrow is going to be a hammer down situation.

Yeah, yeah break in and all that. I want my bed. This Holiday Inn bed is jacking up my shoulders and my back. Home sure sounds better than another night in a hotel.

Sounds better to stay out of the storm. Safe travels.

The internet engineers will lose their shit over the improper break-in but screw them. What you are doing is closer to reality for most new vehicle purchases anyway.
