Rear drum brakes

I was listening to the Car Care Nut channel. They were detailing a VW Buzz, and I was surprised to hear the vehicle has rear drum brakes. I had a 2011 Jetta with that set up for 10 years and drove it to 100k miles before trading it in. I had to replace the rear brakes once in that time period. The 2011 Jetta was engineered to be cheap, so that set up made sense. The VW Buzz is in no way engineered with that mindset. Wondering what the community's thoughts are on this.

Apparently it's because EV's use their brake less often and would cause a bunch of issues due to lack of use with disk brakes such as rusting and seizing. Drum brakes are less prone to these issues.

I'm fine with it.
