My sons and I in their early teens got pretty into them. My older son really got into it and sunk a lot of money into the blue one. Every inch of the internals is custom and he mowed a lot of lawns to save up.
The green one is mine it's a Redcat Gen 2 Scout, I just wanted something out of the box that was not too expensive and that truck blew us all away it goes anywhere the more expensive trucks go. I think it has aftermarket shocks and tires but that's it. I did have to replace the motor but didn't do anything crazy.
The one that looks like a Tacoma on the far right is my younger son's Enduro trail truck the Knightrunner, it's also really good out of the box and has minor modifications.
The blue one is my older son's it started out as an Enduro Sendero HD but has had everything changed out on it.
We also have a ton of the Axial SCX24s. Several of those have custom wheels for more weight and brass throughout. Those are what I actually had the most fun messing around with as they run forever on a battery charge and go anywhere once you get a little weight added. We would buy extra batteries and with two or three batteries you could go for hours on end.
Also visible in the picture are two Arrma Sentons, those things were fast as hell but too fast honestly we couldn't keep tires on them and I got tired of replacing them. That's when we got into crawlers which are much more fun and durable.
