In a shocking move, new 2026 Ram trucks warranty will now be 10 years, 100,000 miles on powertrain and out does the competition by a large measure. It also answers critics who claim new Hurricane engines can’t last even that long. New 2026 Ram truck warranty The new warranty raises the current terms from 5 years and 60,000 miles to the now much longer warranty period in response to the fact most consumers are taking out 7 years loans and that didn’t sit right with Ram CEO Tim Kuniskis. “Everything is more expensive, and trucks are certainly no exception. They brought back the 80's! I remember when Lee Iaccoca did this. I'm glad they brought it back. This renders the arguments about oil fill sensors and cylinder deactivation moot.

I will say that I wish it included some wear items like seat material and button wear but since there's no buttons anymore...

This is a great move by Ram. 👍

I thought it was a solid move. And like @Fightnfire I thought it would put pressure on Ford, GM and Toyota to follow suit. I went to bed excited about the news.

Then, I woke up. Checked the comments. Good lord.

Here's the top responses:

"You will def need it with Dodge/Ram"
"Most people drive 20k miles a year, this is only a 5 year warranty"
"I drive 40k a year, this isn't going to help."
"Good luck trying to get warranty work done Stellantis dealership are the worst"
"It is going to drive good techs away with bad warranty work pay"
"If you take it in for warranty work, they won't fix anything and you'll still have to pay out of pocket"
"Engines/transmissions won't last that long, this will bankrupt Ram"
"This is a joke right"
"Not going to make me change my mind"
"It is going to rust out before then."
"For the working class this means nothing. My truck already came with a 100k warranty"

The last one, I commented back to a few of them and pointed out that the warranty they have came from a dealer not the manufacturer. One person said, "so what. What's your point?" I said, "this means people don't have to search out specific dealers or buy extended warranties. It applies to all trucks."

I swear. Give people an inch and they want a mile. Ram didn't have to do anything. They decided to extend the warranty and people are hating on them for it. That's just crazy to me.

@testerdhal, don't let haters keep you from enjoying a good thing. This is a win for consumers.

This move is forcing RAM and RAM dealers to get their shit together when it comes to their build/work quality. If RAM builds a bad product, this will cost them a fortune, and if dealers provide a shitty experience, this will drive consumers away from the brand.

I really like this move from RAM and hopefully, all other truck manufacturers will follow suit. Looking at you Ford and GM, things are pretty bad right now for the two of them on the reliability side.

Just a SMH moment. I've gone through the comments, added a few replies and now I'm putting on the ignore part of my brain. I just can't with the rest of the comments. I'll let those people have at it. If they want to see the world in a negative view point, have at it. I choose not to.

I also think this move screams a little panic from RAM. When Hyundai/KIA did this it was in response to poor trust, because of poor quality, with US consumers. A couple of manufacturers followed suit in time only to then pull back to the 5yr 60k.

RAM/Dodge actually offered a lifetime warranty in the late 2000's. GM offered a 100k in response for 2 or 3 years late 2000's. Ford never went above 60k I don't think.

If they respond I could see it taking a few years. RAM's market share has really fallen off from a high of mid to high 20's back down to around 18%, and that's with the total market growing.

Yeah, they did have the Lifetime but that was restricted to original owner and required maintenance checks every 5 years. I was just curious about standard warranty.

Yup, I remember that now. I had a 99 and then an 01 (Both had transmission issues) I went looking again in 08/09 and the warranty almost got me but decided to hold off until I bought my Tacoma in 2010 or 2011. I think Ford had been pretty consistent once they got to 5/60 but GM did go up and then back down after a few years.

Oh yeah, this is RAM's full panic mode and trying to salvage the situation. We fucked up, please come back and buy RAM. If RAM was doing well, I'm not sure we see the HEMI being brought back and all of the other stuff.

Hopefully it works out for them as competition is always good. Especially in the truck world where we don't have that many options to choose from.

Warranty denied! you did not recite the Star Spangled Banner in reverse on the full moon of the Sturgeon while making the service appointment, oh is that a spec of mud on the oil pan, that's vehicle abuse and that's not covered, have a good day!

I blame the telephone dial shifter for that.
I’m not sure the dial shifter was at fault. They had great sales with the dial shifter in 2019, 2020 and 2021. They also fell off in sales a lot when they dropped the classic. I may be wrong but I blame people being hesitant on the hurricane engine. I see this warranty change as a direct response to that.

I remember Ram getting these comments back when the Internet was new. Some people just have to hate. I laughed at their comments then, and I laugh at them now.
I was laughing at the same comments. There are always haters out there along with hater bot comments on everything out there as well. Everyone has some prejudices for certain brands.
I’ve experienced good and bad from the big 3 over the last 40+ years of driving. A new car/truck is always a bit of a crap shoot. A better warranty always helps.
Maybe we’ll get some warranty wars. Car companies like to increase sales now and worry about the extra cost later.
