A second Federal investigation has been launched probing Honda Ridgeline engine failures among 1.4 million vehicles built by the automaker. Honda Ridgeline Engine Failures According to an AutoNews.com story, the Honda Ridgeline engine failures are part of the larger probe affecting 2018-2020 model year Acura TLX, 2016-2020 Acura MDX, 2016-2020 Honda Pilot, 2018-2020 Honda Odyssey, and 2017 and 2019 Honda Ridgeline vehicles. The 3.5-liter V6 engine’s connecting rods are in question after the National Highway Safety Administration (NHTSA) received 414 reports related to Honda and Acura vehicles including Honda Ridgelines. Previously, the agency had issued a probe in 2024 after […] (read full article...)

The timing of this article is remarkable to me. My 2019 Honda Ridgeline, VIN not included in recall 23V-752, is now in the Honda shop awaiting repairs for a failed camshaft thrust bearing which requires a camshaft replacement. Total cost $4,600. My Ridgeline has 89k miles and has been serviced by Honda dealerships since I bought it in 2019. FYI this was a Honda certified used truck I purchased which had a 7 year/100k warranty that had just lapsed in April of this year. I requested Honda to fix my truck at no cost but they have not committed to do so. I submitted my incident to the NHTSA. Hopefully I will get my money back when and if the the next recall is issued. I cannot be the only Ridgeline owner in this position and maybe your article will compel others to submit enough incident reports that the recall will actually happen. Thanks for reading this.

Still can’t believe the 2019 model wasn’t included. Seems very suspect to me.

My 2020 Ridgeline just needed the short block replaced because of a spun rod bearing. Only 70K miles. $10,000 to repair. Honda gave me a good will credit of $6,500. I did post a complaint on the NHTSA website. Hopefully they expand the recall.

Interesting that this year,my 2018 Ridgeline started having a knocking noise,so I went to the dealership for a diagnosis. The timing tensioner was diagnosed as (deteriorating).I replaced it myself with the kit including belt, pulleys, and water pump.Still had knocking.Showed service manager the old parts with only 71K miles on it and now dealership is willing to get new technician being looked upon with manager (for free). Noise starts when cold and lasts under 30 seconds under acceleration.Possibly (rod knock)? Going into shop next week.
