Mid-life crisis camping trip

So... I'm calling this my mid-life crisis camping trip. LOL.

Ok. A little or a lot back story. I realized the other day I've been raising kids for 27 years. I've been a stay-at-home Dad. I started one business and now this is my 2nd. I was a sports referee on the weekends and didn't go to college until later in life (thankfully!). I found my passion in journalism and then trucks. The reality is I've been busy raising a family, starting businesses, working 7 days a week and burning the midnight oil as the saying goes. I'm tired and I think I might, scratch that, I do deserve a break.

My kids are now teenagers and adults. Yeah, my daughter is 27! My wife LOVES her job. She gets a lot of fulfillment from it. Me? i work and while I love what I do, I want to do more living.

Yeah, the travel is great. The hotels and airports. We stay at really high-end places. Those are great, but I get tired of that life. I wanted some "Tim time." I realized I'm stressed. I haven't been alone for more than a day or two with nothing to do for a decade or more. It is always one more thing to do. One more thing to do around the house. One more task to do.

I looked at my truck and my camper one day and made a decision. I was going to change things up. So, I booked campsites. I bought Starlink for internet, loaded up my golf clubs and hit the road. This time I'm gone 9 days. Next time I'm going to SEMA in Vegas and I'm gone about the same. I need to grow the business, meet sponsors, video different things and tell new stories. I want to go for a hike, fly fish, see the sunrise from different places. Less Facebook, more real life.

BTW, for those wondering on the health side of things, I FINALLY bought some heel lifts and I balanced out my hips. Holy cow! One heel lift in my left shoe and it is like putting air in a low tire on a car. My pain disappeared. I'm still skeptical, but wow. It has been just a few weeks, but damn was that a big damn change. I'm certain my weight is down and my mobility is up.

Look, we all make life choices. My life choices have lead me to the fact I CAN take days on the road without PTO time off. I CAN work remotely. I mean what's the difference between working at home versus working from my camper? I CAN do certain things. I'm not bragging. I've taken the risks. I have the scars. I've paid my dues.

Tomorrow, I'm not doing a damn thing. I may sleep in. I don't know. I want to play golf. I know that. I want to see my friend at Toyota for lunch on Wednesday. It is an hour and half drive. Screw it. I'm doing it. Then, I may just have a few drinks and watch the sunset over the lake here in Texas.

Thursday and Friday I'm doing work. First, the State Fair of Texas and then then the annual Texas Auto Writers Association Truck Rodeo which I've volunteered to join the board this year after a decade plus of attending. Saturday night in Dodge City and home on Sunday. Maybe. If the weather is an issue and the road gets long, maybe its Monday. Maybe its Tuesday. Less about putting out a video every day. More about living.

This is my campsite. I drove through a hellacious storm to get here. Seriously, Texas WTF. Sideways rain! Oh and I opened the door and literally scared the piss out of a baby cow. Sorry baby cow. LOL

We all need to find a way to enjoy the ride of our lives as much as possible. Carpe Diem.

Buffalo Trace is my go-to never had the other two, how is The Jeffersons?

Enjoy the trip!
It is smoother than the Buffalo Trace IIRC. It has been a while since I've had it. I usually just grab some Crown, but I drink that stuff way too fast. Although... Yeah, I did a livestream with Dave last night. We wanted to see how Starlink would work doing a Livestream. Well, that was the "idea" and I woke up this morning with ... "whiskey regret." Whoops! I still have a half bottle of Buffalo Trace though! And I didn't open the others, so I'm choosing to look at the positive side of things. LOL

Regarding pain from the feet. Do to the crappy footwear I was wearing and planter facilitates in one foot, trying to correct it with various inserts. I finally got better using hard heal footwear. The pain used to travel up to my teeth!
If you don't have a good foundation it can screw up totally unrelated things in the body. I take my wallet out of my back pocket for long drives otherwise I have to get out and walk it off every few hours.

You having a short leg, my friend has the same issue. Dr measured his leg bones and hips for alignment, had custom orthotics made for his footwear. Pain is gone. (just like the Relief Factor commercial!) but no drugs needed.

Your last video you look so much more relaxed. The needle or thorn in you back was removed!

Jefferson's Ocean is one of my favorite bourbons. Super smooth. I just have one, not the whole bottle!

Heading home and made it to Dodge City. Washed and filled up the truck. Setup the camper after getting the KOA counter person to give me a much better spot (good to have experience). Now, I’m chilling out.

Good week of work. I was much more relaxed, stayed longer at events, networked better, slept better, created a lot of content, ate better, drank less, etc… I learned I need to slow down more often that’s for sure. We will see how long this lasts once I get back home to the hustle and bustle! 😂
