Spend time in any online community with truck fans and you’ll undoubtedly come across posts on: is OW20 bad for your engine? And should you follow the recommended oil change intervals? The Million Mile Tundra reveals interesting data on this topic. OW20 bad for your engine? Before we get into what the Million Mile Tundra revealed, let’s talk about the concerns over OW20. Throughout the last few decades, oil manufacturers and automakers have worked hand-in-hand to develop new oils to protect engines from wear damage and improve fuel economy. This push has led to lighter weight oils that are so […] (read full article...)

What!? How can that be? Some of these guys on the user forums have driven hundreds of miles on these trucks, so how can they be wrong? And they actually can "feel" how much more power and smoothness thicker oil provides......
That’s too funny. You mean to say a self proclaimed expert isn’t always right? I won’t be able to believe anything said at a bar again (Including what I say).

The idea for this story came from a viewer. His words were: "if Vic used 0W20 that pretty much puts things to rest. That information would certainly stop some of the YouTube Mechanics lol"

Happy to help stop some of the YouTube mechanics. LOL

I'd say prepare for people to say that the exception does not make the norm. I still trust engineers over joe schmuck mechanic.

I don't reply back to those comments. There's such a negative viewpoint these days it is ridiculous. People think all new trucks are crap and built to fail, dealerships are the enemy, etc... With that viewpoint, it isn't worth wasting energy on them.

And now when I see any commenter whining how 0W20 will kill an engine, I have something to refer them to.

Now go find somebody who put a million miles on a turbo so we can shut them up as well. Preferably a 2023/24 Tundra that was not part of the recall to end that argument as well.

I work on this all the time.

Actually, I could REALLY use everyone's help. Go to Ford F-150 forums and see if someone has one. My thinking is since the EcoBoost came out in 2009, there has to be one out there.

I've searched and come up with nothing.

500 000 - 600 000 miles seems to be the upper limit I found for an original engine Ecoboost. There's a couple of one million miles Ecoboost out there, but they had an engine replacement along the way.
