short version: Easily removable back seat in crew cab trucks.
Long version: One of the reasons I’d like a pickup truck is for when my dogs go with me to places. Thinking about the potential for rear end collisions, I’d much rather have them in the middle of the vehicle than in the back cargo area, where a bad impact could hurt them. One of my top reasons for liking F-150s and Rams is the flat loading floor, because I see a nice, roomy, comfortable flat area for my dogs, including a big golden retriever. But, I’d actually prefer to have a mid-size truck for garage ability, maneuverability, and 95% of my needs wouldn’t require a full size. So, if the back seat of a mid-size could be easily removed and put back in, leaving me a flat floor like an F-150, that’d be great. I don’t even know if that’s feasible, engineering-wise, but I think they can reconfigure seating on airliners by sliding the seats into a hard-mounted track on the floor and locking it down.

Just an idea…

I think the challenge would be how to reroute the driveshaft and exhaust around those seats. There's not much room below the floor to fit those seats.

I'd be on board!! This would be awesome if I could completely pull them out of the truck and re-install them easily. Would also be nice to see what outfitters could come up with. This would be a dream scenario for me about 2 months out of the year during hunting season. Pull the back seat out and replace it at the end of the season.

Exactly! I actually shop for trucks based on how useful the rear seat is for cargo. The most carried item in my back seat area is a case of beer and a pizza. I never have passengers and I fill that area on the way to hunting camp with gun cases and clothes.
