I got pissed today - Trump on 2020 rollback

I got pissed off today. I'll post the video below and, before I get too far, I'm not pissed at the topic or the President. Let me explain my two issues.

This morning, I watched yet another video screwing up the emissions discussion as it relates to diesels. And that video, like other videos, has 10x the views I get. WTF. I've interviewed experts in various capacities with regards to diesels. I've read all the EPA information I can find and I've had many discussions with diesel advocates. I feel like I know my stuff in this specific regard.

Then, I noticed something. Those other creators used a picture of the President in their thumbnail. I don't like that one bit. I want to discuss policy, not the person. However, if I don't get people's attention with the thumbnail, they don't watch and then I read these flat out lies all over the place on social media and forums. That really pisses me off when people are misinformed. Like I've said from the beginning of this channel I want informed consumers.

I'm a journalist, not just a car reviewer. My job is to report on the news and give you the information you need to be more informed.

So, fine. I'll break my rule.

Now onto the second issue. I hate calling out other creators. YouTube is hard. And every single time I've called out other creators it hasn't turned out well for me. I couldn't help it. This one channel keeps getting hundreds of thousands of views and it is all lies. Did I call him out through pulling up his channel page? No. I made a quick comment and moved on. Honestly, that was probably giving him way more attention than I should have. He probably has some good content, but every video I've watched, I just can't. He drives me nuts.

Ok, rant over. Without further ado:

That's a really slippery slope be cautious. Even as middle of the road as you've been you've inflamed a group which just means less possible viewership.

I'm reminded of a quote "you can win the battle and still lose the war", or "you can win the battle... but should you?"

Some people watch YouTube to learn how to do specific things some people watch it for information and some for purely entertainment purposes. I've watched a handful of those videos that you're referencing mainly because I'm curious to know what their spin is. I don't think anything is set in stone whether it be tariffs or deregulation this is just the beginning I've said from day one I think it's a bad idea to make proclamation videos from either side because nobody knows. It's all guess work so what's the point in getting pissed off at people making guesses from the opposite side?

When does it stop being a guess though? SEMA, the EPA and Trump himself have all made statements that back me up.

It was in their "News" article, The Morning Dump. They were talking about the tariffs and things were getting heated as expected and one guy was arguing about needing ID to vote and that if you couldn't afford $20 for an ID, you weren't rich enough to vote. That pissed me off because I went through a time when my family survived off of $30 a week. He had also said that he was from Detroit and said I was a faker from the suburbs. I laid into him with facts and geography of where I lived in Highland Park and shut him down.

I will put up with a lot and respect different viewpoints, but don't call me a liar.

Fun fact: Chrysler was doing so poorly financially during my time in high school that we had Oldsmobile Firenzas for driver's ed cars. Chrysler's world headquarters was five blocks away.

What is a vehicle emissions rollback to 2020 standards going to do in real world terms? IMO, Not much as vehicle makers aren't going to just turn on a dime. That's why the EPA is not needed nearly as much as it once was, i am not sure of any vehicle made anywhere in the world that is truly dirty vehicle, emissions wise.

Because of integrity. You always pick the fight when the facts and truth are on your side regardless of the outcome. So many today cave and lose any self-respect for pure profit.
Tim can still fight the fight by just presenting the facts whiteout the need to argue in the comments. You will never win the fight against the internet before you lose your sanity.

It's like trying to convince an antivax to start getting vaccinated or a flat earther that the earth is round, no matter how many facts you present, they will reject it.

It must be incredibly frustrating watching the doom and gloom channels generate this amount of views when all they do is speak non-sense and reinforce wrong views based on desire and not facts.

That's what I like so much about Tim, he always tries to present a fair view, and the facts, no matter how politicized the issue is. Keep it up Tim. (y)🍻

We'll just have to completely disagree here. I don't think those first two sentences make a whole lot of sense together. That sounds like a much better definition for self-righteous than integrity.

Also, I don't think anybody has the facts and truth in either of these situations.

Ok, rant over. Without further ado:

Just finished watching it. It was perfectly fine, and most comments are positive. You didn't really slam anyone or come off as a smartass. You did an outstanding job of explaining the exact situation as it stands right now without pushing any personal agenda of your own. And you were not political in any way regardless of the thumbnail. I think that's the best kind of reporting; you don't pander to an audience taking their side and pushing a narrative you know they want just for your own best interests. Integrity, it's a rare commodity today. I congratulate you sir.

As for the story itself. It makes perfect sense. You used real data and real history and real-life consequences. It's 2025, what the hell do people think is going to happen? Of course, everyone wants to go back to the 60s when smog devices did not exist to make life easy. But also remember that nobody cared when you dumped used oil on the side of the street. Those days are gone, get over it, this is the world we live in. And I'm glad about it as I've witnessed the improvement. Nothing ever gets better by going backwards. Beijing has even instituted stricter smog rules and cleaned up their air. Like everything else, technology will fix it but the longer we fight it, the longer it will take to fix.

It's not self-righteous to correct hyperbole with facts.

Don't get me wrong, I wasn't talking about arguing with commenters but the reason he made the video itself and correcting other YTrs.

Some of the best times not to pick a fight is when the facts and truth are on your side. Because you can pick the fight but you can't always control or see the consequences and sometimes it's only after you wish you hadn't picked the fight. Not all fights are worth having.
I don't look at as fighting about an opinion but about correcting what one is saying you said vs what you said. That's more the case here. Obviously, the trolls who just reply with, "Well you're ugly and your hat is stupid looking!" don't get argued with. They just get fucked with and made fun of. Ones who say you are lying should not be allowed to get away with it.
