GM is giving heavy-duty truck buyers an early look at its next diesel engine. The automaker released a Mongoose teaser video for the new 8.3-liter Duramax turbo-diesel V8 headed to the refreshed 2027 Chevrolet Silverado HD and GMC Sierra HD. The name sets up a predator-versus-prey theme. In its announcement, GM takes a swipe at a cross-town rival’s diesel engine and its “scorpion” nickname, positioning the Mongoose as the challenger.
