What happens when your brand-new $70,000 diesel pickup needs a new engine before it even hits 1,500 miles and you have to go through GM Lemon Law process? That’s exactly what happened to one Chevrolet Silverado 1500 owner who reached out to share his full experience — from interstate breakdown to thrust bearing failure, to months of buyback negotiations and lemon law confusion. He shared his story to hopefully inform others on what they can expect from the Lemon Law process. Here’s how it unfolded. Exact same thing happened to me. Bought the truck New Year's Eve 2025, thrust bearing went out with 2500 miles on it in April. Truck was in the shop 35 days. Check engine light went off 200 miles on replacement engine for one of the ECUs. Was done with it after that. Filed a claim with GM and all they did was drag their feet for 8 weeks claiming they couldn't reach their own dealership and called me back every 3 business days to give me that update. I foolishly hoped I'd be taken care of. June was truck month with 0% financing and told them I was trying to take advantage of it. They couldn't have cared less. Went through 5 different advisors during the 8 weeks. Should've filed lemon law immediately. Dealership was more than helpful and swapped me out without any money out of pocket to be able to get the 0%. GM is absolutely the worst. File fore lemon law immediately if you can. Allegedly from the service department, the thrust bearing issue bulletin was made in sept 25 and only affects GM trucks made before December 2025. Good luck everyone.
