GM 6.2L V8 Engine faces more scrutiny as NHTSA opens investigation into original recall’s potentially inadequate remedies. GM’s ongoing issues with its widely-used 6.2L V8 Engine keep getting worse. As we reported in October, the already critical recall was being expanded to include even more vehicles than originally reported. Now, to compound the issue, the NHTSA‘s Office of Defect Investigation has opened a recall query due to numerous reports of the engine failure defect occurring on vehicles that had already received the recommended remedy. As we covered in October, the recall is a major one, affecting as many as 600K […] (read full article...)

Thanks for the report, I think it's one of the reasons why Toyota is not saying much and not rushing to say it's fixed. Having your engine failed is bad, having you engine keep failing after you say it's fixed is worse.

Didn't Toyota issue a recall saying they had addressed and fixed the issue with updated processes at the facilities for cleaning the debris out of the engine...and then not respond as engines produced after the debris cleaning processes went into place kept grenading for two+ years? Not to mention the hybrids with the exact same issue are completely ignored.

It’s time to be pedantic about semantic, they said should and not that it was.

I still agree about the hybrids not being included being bullshit and that the warranty on the replace engine is only a year/12 000 miles.

We will know when Toyota has truly fixed it when they will give a proper warranty on the replacement engine.

Sure, but how many failed after receiving a whole new engine? The crappy part for GM is if the new oil viscosity doesn't "fix" enough of them, that's a whole lot of new engines.....

Happier all the time I walked away from my 23 tundra. I’m running 2 vehicles with their new turbo 4. Hoping it’s a good one but wont really know for a long time. My daughter has 46k miles on her 24 taco. No issues.
