Ford Bronco Sport, Maverick recall - 227k battery issue

More than 227,000 Ford Bronco Sport and Ford Maverick trucks are being recalled due to a battery problem. The battery problem could lead to stalling. Ford says the impacted vehicles could experience “internal weld and/or caston-strap failures” leading to the vehicle stalling. The recalled vehicles will be repaired for free at Ford and Lincoln dealerships. The question is who makes the Motorcraft batteries?

From USA Today:

"According to a notice first reported to NHTSA on Friday, the recall covers 272,817 Bronco and Maverick vehicles that contain 12-volt batteries manufactured by Chinese company Camel Battery."


Another report said that only 1% of the recalled vehicles have the bad batteries but Ford wants to replace them all instead of trying to identify which batteries are bad. They found the issue during another bigger loss of power recall last year and the batteries had multiple defects.
