A Flock camera AI system incorrectly identified the Jaguar Land Rover press vehicle I was driving as stolen, turning what should have been a routine drive home into a 90-minute traffic stop on a 98-degree Nebraska afternoon. The officer did exactly what he was supposed to do. On the flip side, I regularly see law enforcement social media extolling the virtuous role flock cameras had in solving local crimes. As with any technology, it comes with tradeoffs. I'm personally not a fan of how flock reduces privacy of the common citizen just going about their business.
 
Turned out a lot better than that Coast Guard guy down in FL. Dealership put the wrong VIN on his paperwork when he bought a new truck. Two weeks later they report his VIN as stolen. Plus, they had installed a LoJack without telling him. The sent the Sheriffs and of course they handled like an episode of Cops. They even tapped his brand-new truck with a police F150 in the parking lot where they caught him. He was cuffed and stuffed and brought to the station. Took hours before they released him.

Not defending AI but it was human error in Tim's case and the other one in Minnesota. Instead of entering the entire suspected plate number, the LAPD only entered the big digits 34DTM vice 34 08 DTM. So 34dtm is what the camera systems looked for and found. As high as our tech as gotten, "garbage in; garbage out" still applies. We're having a similar issue here in PA because our new license plates have a slashed zero digit that is getting confused as an eight in the toll camera systems and people are getting tickets in the mail.

I watched this the other week. The guy that got arrested was amazingly calm about the whole incident. Be interesting to know what the dealership is going to do to make things right.

Apparently, he already started a lawsuit so looks like they didn't make him happy...lol
I get a mistake, shit happens. And the way he responded kept it from escalating badly. What I can't forgive is the dealer installing a tracker without his knowledge. That shit needs to stop.
 
Fortunately I've never had a dealership install a tracker on my vehicle, but from the number of YouTube videos I've seen about it, it seems to happen more than it should. I agree it needs to stop
