Crazy thought about "reliable" engines.

Tim has another video out talking about who is to blame for killing the cheap trucks and in the comments were the standard "This group killed the ability to make a reliable engine!". At this point, I've decided that what they really mean is that "This group killed the simple engine!" The thing is that they can still buy those simpler engines! They just have to go to Summit Racing, buy them, and swap out the factory engine for that one. (Plus, you know, set it and program it to the computer if they keep that part.)

So the real question is: are they willing to spend the money and ruin the warranty to get what they want?

I've come to the conclusion people think there is no engine that is reliable these days and any truck that costs more than $20k is overpriced.

I was thinking last night it seems like I go through this span of stories every year or so talking about reliability and price for a while then I leave it alone. It seems like it runs its course and everybody unloads their chest and moves on.

For fun, I created a poll to ask what price people thought a truck was affordable. The comments are wild and all over the place. I think it really shows wage disparity more than issues with affordability.
