Confusion explodes over California diesel engine ban

This story has been absolutely exploding on the YouTube channel where I interviewed some experts. Today, the EPA granted California new waivers to keep these rules in place. TBC, this isn't just a California issue with 17 states adopting some or all of the CARB rules.

And yes, it is a ban. And yes, it will affect you next year at the supermarket for starters.

I don't know, I reserve judgement. I used to live in Cali back in the 80's and it really sucked. The smog around the inland areas was just nasty. And I drove a CJ with no top. Going back now is amazing; it really is so much cleaner. Like anything, we just gotta see how it plays out but right now, we can only guess what the result will be.

I saw some old footage of a Monday night football game in Pittsburg and how you couldn’t see across the city… then they showed the current skyline. It looked crystal clear now in comparison.
We all like to have clean air to breathe.
I’m from Canada so I essentially have the popcorn out to see how the situation in California shakes out. However it shakes out will have consequences for us. We follow many of your environmental policies(concerning automobiles) and depending on the fed administration here sometimes exceed them.
I can’t see how enforceable some of the California policies are governing vehicles from out of state and attempting to charge the owner of the merchandise rather than the carrier for the vehicles not being up to standard. I used to work in IT support in the trucking industry. The rules for cross-border notification for trucks crossing the border fell on the carrier. Then it was the carrier’s responsibility to pass that responsibility on to the owner of the merchandise. If it all goes as planned for California you may have certain trucking companies that specialize in driving into California because they can meet the standard. Someone will make some money off of it somewhere.

True that. But is there anything that people don't make money from? The fact that health insurance is one of the most profitable industries is the worst.
