Buck 110 price jump

Pickup trucks aren't the only thing that got expensive. Have you seen the price of a Buck 110 folder lately?

$90.00 plus tax! And that's at Walmart.

I watched two videos last night about it. One kinda justifying the price, the other lamenting it and offering other choices.

Would you buy one at that price and would you use it like an outdoor knife at that price?

Have one somewhere from the 80s. Never really cared for the blade shape. For cheap simple utility knife, I wouldn't pay over $30. My go to is a Benchmade I bought in the 90s for $100.

Also never been a Buck fan. For everyday I've carried CRKT, Civivi, Kershaw's and Spyderco. I tend to keep those under 40.

My kids for my birthday last year got me the new knife that Work Sharp is making and they're fantastic, one of the best knives I've had but they are more expensive I think around $100.

I have one but rarely use it. My daily is a Leatherman Sidekick which is perfect for work. For the weekend I usually carry one of my various Rough Ryder Trappers. They are cheap and handy. I have a RAT 3 and RAT 5 as well as an Opinel among others.

The main point was the price jump. Even my Leatherman is stupidly high now. When I bought it, I got it at Home Depot on sale for $35.00 now it's $70.00!

Have you checked the prices of your knives today if you had to replace them? I'm curious.

Also, would you use those knives as knives? (Processing game, cleaning fish, camp duty, "One knife challenge"...)

In response to your last question I use my knife for everything but being a smaller pocket knife it's not fit for the heavier duty stuff so if I'm camping or out in the woods I usually have something else in the truck. I always have the Leatherman skeletool in my truck and a SOG 6" fixed beat it up knife.

Curious about the prices I'll look into it in a bit

The Civivi I bought in 2021 for 52 is now 63
The Spyderco was 48 in 2023 now 51
Oddly the CRKT was 32 in 2021 and now 24 I think that was a new release at the time.
