Long story short, my daughter‘s a farrier and her 01 ford explorer I bought her two years ago broke and she needed a new truck and wanted a 24 Tacoma. At 20 years old, she’s not a seasoned car buyer and negotiator, so I told her I’d sell her my 24 Silver Tacoma for what I paid for it two months ago, passing along the 6k off msrp I negotiated, and then I’d look for a replacement.
I expected to take my time and see how the year end 24Tacoma market played out. I checked out the Colorado Trail Boss and also looked at Rangers, but I just didn’t like their interior ergonomics. They both look so plain to me, so 2 days after my daughter assumed my current Tacoma, I was looking for another. That search was over with in a day and a half.
I found a nearby dealer who sold me a 24 Tacoma that arrived the previous day. It wasn’t even in their inventory or on their website yet. I was able to negotiate a huge discount on it. The dealer experience was pleasant and I was in and out in a couple of hours.
In my experience, which is buying 60+ vehicles in my short time on this planet, getting a huge discount on a Hero color and spec is rare. Dealers often hold off on discounts until they are past the 30 day in stock mark. My silver Tacoma was in stock 124 days, and is silver, so the discount opportunity was ripe. I am grateful for the amazing deal on the Solar Octane TRD OffRoad Long bed with Premium package. It’s a really nice setup.
