Banks iDash Stationary Regen for LZO

The new firmware for the Banks iDash makes it possible to perform a Stationary Regen on the Global B platforms. I haven't updated yet, not sure I have a need for stationary regens, but thought I'd pass the info along

Deamonworks has a video of a stationary regen being performed. Gets loud and hot!

still waiting for them to add oil pressure
Now that's a weird omission. I quite like seeing what the oil pressure is doing in real time on my Tundra. I can see when my truck has finish warming up in the morning as the oil pressure at idle drops by quite a bit. Same thing when on cruise control, I can monitor the RPM or the oil pressurer to know when the engine is working.

I saw that news come across. I’m split on the benefits. I suppose if you want more control or have a very unique case it makes sense to have this option. I’m just not sure.

My understanding is that the primary benefit of stationary regens would be for fleet vehicles where you can't always rely on the vehicle operator to drive in a way that ensures the regen takes place.

The ability to manually trigger a rolling regen might be useful if you're around 90% DPF and want to knock out the regen on your current drive.

Niether is something I need but its good to have the option.

I noticed in the Deamonworks vid that you need to click through several warnings to activate the stationary regen. I wonder if that's going to end badly for anyone who simply clicks through those warnings

Just an update, the new firmware that allows manual regens only works on the newer iDash Pro and iDash Pro Data, and not the older classic iDash.

If you already own the older classic iDash or iDash Data Monster and own a 3.0L Duramax (not sure if this applies to the 6.7 Duramax) Banks will sell you the newer model at a 50% discount. You don't need to send them your old iDash. Banks confirmed that you can use your old iDash in a dual configuration alongside the Pro.

To get the discount you need to call, or text Banks customer service. They will send you a form. Fill the form out and return it to them. A couple of days later you will get a call so you can place the order. There is a 2 week back order on the iDash Pro Data.

I've been thinking about picking up a second iDash and this seemed like a good excuse to pull the trigger.

A second iDash? Man, how much data do you need? LOL.

Scored on this. It applies to GM Duramax 6.6 24+, 3.0 23+, Tundra 14+, Tacoma 24+ years
Got the standard unit in 2 days $205.
Must be a compatible issue as I didn't get all the data on my 3.0 even with the updated firmware.

The improved resolution of the new iDash is noticeable but not dramatic. You can see in the image (Data Pro top, Classic iDash bottom) that both gauges are easy to read. The breakaway feature of the new iDash for me is the Bluetooth interface with the Banks app. Being able to adjust gauge settings and update the firmware from the phone is a great feature. My one disappointment is that the iDash Pro doesn’t talk to the iDash Classic, so the app cannot be used to change settings on the older iDash.
