Any discussion around diesel emissions will often come around to someone bringing up the fact there are U.S. Military diesel engines deleted from the factory. This the commenter will point out is due to reliability. Obviously, the commenter will state the U.S. Government itself knows the emissions equipment is unreliable. This isn’t the whole story and is a half-baked truth at best. U.S. Military diesel engines deleted from factory This topic has come up once again with the news of the new EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin stating he is directing the agency to look into emissions rules to roll back […] (read full article...)

A few other notes on this one. First, this story took me a week of back and forth with multiple sources including the U.S. Army. Second, yeah, the freaking U.S. Army! I have a Department of Defense media account. That's pretty damn cool. I was scrolling through their media library. Holy cow do I feel patriotic now. LOL.

Video coming.

I really wanted to do this story for several reasons including getting to the bottom of what's going on with the deleted emissions equipment. I should have done this work last year and I'm kicking myself for not following up then when that TikTok video went viral with the U.S. Air Force truck. Then, I saw TFL do an emissions video and right off the bat, the commenters were pointing to the Military diesels not having emissions. I went back and looked at my emissions videos and that same comment appeared there as well.

Hopefully this will set the record straight and over the course of the next few years, those commenters will be corrected to the point the truth will prevail.

After 22 years in the military, I've always known this stuff and just shook my head when the conspiracy theorists would try to spread it. The crap we dumped in hummers in Kuwait was crazy. Funny part, we even filled our helos with straight pump diesel at an abandoned station in the middle of a fight.

You should join the YT or TikTok commenters. They think I’m flat out wrong and have been lied to.

lol...You cannot change a YT commenters mind with facts. Regardless of source, they won't accept it. All you can do is make fun of them and laugh when they blow up. Which is what I usually do but since I already knew what you were going to say, I didn't watch that one or comment. Just opened it to add a like.:)

I'd love to lead a life believing everything I read on the internet is fact, it seems so simple and reassuring.
I would rather just cry foul at anything that does not agree with my view point, much simpler...

Low blow aside, I would like for critical thinking and discussions to come back but it seems like it's too far gone for that.

It's really hard having a constructive and interesting discussion these days. One group keeps yelling fake news, or that the people talking are sheep's or bought off when it does not fit their narrative, even when coming from experts. The other group is living in their echo chambers with horse blinders. Let's not forget the holier than thou approach to everything and that everybody is equal even when it becomes a race to the bottom.

Both ways of dealing with any criticism or an opposing opinion is really annoying. You can't convince anybody to change their opinions or at least recognize another viewpoint no matter what way they lean. One denies it and one judges you for it with no real way to move forward. It's just sad, and makes for boring conversations and an even worse society.

Social media is not helping anybody with the different algorithms silently building the walls around you and they keep feeding you exactly what you want to see, but I digress.

The overall situation also makes Russia and China laugh in the background and that's what worries me the most. The current U.S strategy is alienating them from the rest of the world and a weak U.S does not benefit anybody in the world except for Russia, China and terrorist. The golden image that the U.S enjoyed worldwide since WW2 is now being heavily tarnished with no real way to recover it in the short to medium term and that is a sad affair.

It's like watching the titanic from afar and hoping that there's still enough time for the ship to steer out of the way.

You're absolutely spot on about the inability to change someone's opinion, especially online. That's frustrating for sure and sad to see. Unfortunately, our news sites and media are so entrenched in their position for the fear of appearing weak to their base that they refuse to report facts and say anything negative about their party. Personally, I would like to see people spend a lot more time listening instead of trying to change people's opinions. It has to start there. When I get together friends and colleagues and sit around a table playing card games and drinking beers we seem to be able to have very civil conversations even though some are are staunch Republicans and some are very left liberals.

I disagree with your other points about the US and Russia and the golden image the US had. But that's okay to disagree. I believe we were at the point that the deficit could no longer be ignored and empowering terrorists... Since WWII aren't we the global terrorists?

We have taken on the burden of being the world protector while other countries standard of living and social benefits leapfrogged ours because they didn't have to pay their fair share in defense of the globe, and many other things. I don't see a problem with asking, and then demanding, that they begin to do so.

A million percent agree on other countries needing to carry their weight when it comes to defense spending including Canada, Our defense spending is a joke like most other NATO countries.

I also never had problems while talking with people in real life, but the internet seems to bring out the worst out of people. Acting the way people are acting on the internet in real life would get you ostracize and or beaten up real quick.

I disagree on the U.S being the global terrorist. You can't be both the world protectors and global terrorist to the same group of people. Protector of the west and democracy while being the bad guys to well, what we the west, consider bad guys. And that's where your golden image is being wiped off. Trump is acting like a bully to not just foes, but to allies as well. Instead of negotiating, he's trying to intimidate everybody and seems like coutries are calling him out on it. It severely weakens the nice but tough guy image the U.S enjoyed in the world and is pushing people away, much to the benefits of China and somewhat Russia. Not as much for Russia now, as it's busy dealing with a war.

It also doesn't help that from an exterior point of view, your democracy appears to be in shamble and on the verge of imploding. The U.S has a president that is trying to remove everyone at the highest level of government and replace them with his cronies. This is the beginning of a dictatorship, but it's not only limited to just doing that, there's a whole list of actions that are extremely concerning.
  • That same president is being heavily influenced by what appears to be social media influencers, a mad billionaire and a group of ultra hardcore conservatives.
  • He's also de-funding the public education system in a time of disinformation and pushing back on news agency that do not portray him in a good way.
  • On top of that, he's trying to completely disregards the U.S justice system and play down significant classified information leakage, again...
  • The final cherry on top of the sundae is menacing traditional allies with economic war while getting no real concessions or improvement out of them.
    • No countries have committed anything significant to the U.S while the cost is being directly passed down to U.S citizens.
    • There's no easy replacements for the goods and raw materials coming from other countries with the way capitalism works today, everything was setup to be the cheapest possible.
    • This is bringing the country into a recession with a massive boost to inflation with no real gain for either the average Jo's, the defense complex or the companies.

At the same time, it's not all bad, there are some gold nuggets that can be found.
  • The tariffs on China are good as it highlights the current heavy China dependency for most goods.
  • The argument about other countries needing to spend more on defense.
  • The non-sense that DEI is/was
Unfortunately, right now, it's being overshadowed by all of the things mentioned above.

Again, this is from the perspective of someone that is not a U.S citizen, is looking from the outside and is concerned about you guys.
