A recent EPA deregulation announcement has stirred up quite the buzz online about deleted diesel trucks and the removal of diesel emissions equipment now being legal. This popular modification with diesel owners is aimed at improving the diesel’s performance although it is illegal under Federal law. EPA Deregulation Announcement The announcement was part of the “largest deregulation day” in the EPA’s history according to, well, the EPA. There were 31 directives issued that day, and the one that has the diesel owner’s attention is listed under “Lowering the Cost of Living for American Families.” It says: “Reconsideration of light-duty, medium-duty, and […] (read full article...)

Also, woke up this morning thinking I had missed a BIG item with the reconsideration of the 2009 Endangerment finding. That could have a major impact on everything not just automotive. The more I looked into it, the more I thought maybe I should have talked about it.

With that said, it was nice to read another article that focused on the same news I did with quotes from industry executives on the same section I focused on.

Planed on commenting yesterday after watching the video but got distracted by life. I responded to a post on r/gmcsierra asking if it was safe to delete with pretty much the same points you raised. Despite the YouTube hype I haven't seen or read anything leading mme to believe that deletes are around the corner.

Contrary to what some want to believe I'm not convinced that its something the Trump administration is even pushing for. If they do push for for it my guess is that there would be a number of legal challenges to overcome. Even if the federal restrictions are nullified, we'd still need to see how the state we live in responds.

Surprised nobody on this forum has commented on this post. The YouTube video went live yesterday and I’ve been called all sorts of wonderful things. Jeez.
Sorry to disappoint you Tim!

States like California, aren’t going to back away from the standards they set. Plus the moment a Democratic president sets foot in the WH, the Regulations will once again be enforced. So, Manufacturers aren’t going to change plans to comply with the regulation.
I call it Whiplash legislation.

Hey, I'm old but even I don't watch YT much on Saturday night....lol Save it for Sunday morning.....late. Sundays I sleep in.

Especially when my son said he got a bottle of 15 year Pappy Family Reserve.

The problem with making a video on this topic is that it seems to just now be the beginning. The people making videos saying CARB is dead and you can now delete your diesels are wrong, but they don't appear to be any more wrong than people saying nothing changed. It's tricky to follow and I can't make heads or tails of it.

The reason why I asked if people watched is because the written post blew up over the weekend. The video itself is going well and getting a lot of good feedback.

Just weird for those two places to blow up and the forum is quiet.

I doubt any manufacturer is going to backtrack on their exhaust emissions to any great extent, that's why the EPA needs severely scaled back in its current form as its just not necessary anymore as its far past the point of diminishing returns.

I watched Tim's reply/explanation video before the main event. I thought both were really good but you can definitely see Tim's frustration in the reply video. (After seeing some of the "comments" in the earlier one, I can understand why.)

I loved the deep dives and massive information that Tim researched for these videos.

That being said, I think Tim needs to do something fun and frivolous next. Something to blow off some steam.

I’ve always considered the diesel delete subject as anger inducing click bait just like abolish the EPA or all EVs are junk or all turbos are junk. The diesel delete topic is a politically loaded hot potato that typically induces lots of hate speech that hopefully this forum stays away from but that’s just my humble opinion.
I don't think EV's are junk, but I tend to agree with Mr. Clarkson... the reason I grew up loving to drive was as much about the experience, joy and freedom as the necessity of transportation itself. Driving an EV is like driving an appliance... it has no soul.

As for the other parts, as long as we remember that there are reasonable, intelligent people on both sides just as there is hate speech, whatever that is, on both sides.
