2022 Tundra dead in the service lot for almost a month…

My truck died almost a month ago. It’s a Sept22 Tundra. I am going to try to not whine and complain and get as upset as I have on fbook 22 Tundra owners group… that was dumb… so… unemotionally(lol)… I want to ask this:

Why are they prioritizing their phases and schedule instead of getting a new engine to those of us on the recall that are sitting dead?

Seems like a month is enough time to delay even an earlier built recalled tundra engine owner who had decided to go ahead and schedule their fix? I mean it seems like it would go a long way to say hey sorry that you scheduled this but we have someone else who needs this sooner would you be willing to take a couple free oil changes blah blah to delay your replacement?

@testerdahl I emailed you my issue to cover but then I remembered the forum… so went here…

also, forgot to mention this thought here - is Toyota prioritizing the running trucks because there is some sort of count ongoing of those that die? So like, mine died it’s already a bad number, he can wait…

OR

Is it a marketing strategy thing where they know my thoughts of the brand are not fixable. My engine died on my brand new truck. I had to coast over to a neighbors driveway(thank God my family wasn’t with me and we were somewhere in the middle of nasty traffic). They’re not gonna keep me in the future even if they hurry and replace my engine so why not continue to focus on their schedule and hope to get to as many customers who didn’t have the bad engine dying on them experience?

I have thought and said things lately that if I knew I’d have an experience like this, I’d not have chosen a Toyota. I have enjoyed my past Toyotas and made this buy because they were on another level of reliability and dependability. I’m not sure I’d have chosen one over a 22 F150 based on the truck alone… I was happy to see them modernize but I was hoping for continued stability overall… prob should have waited lol everyone warned us… I know not having a truck loaner is not guaranteed and is a first world problem for me… I feel for the Toyota workers and customer support folks dealing with this… I really do. It’ll be alright… just curious as to why they’re letting folks like me sit this long and longer? Is it delayed that bad? Why can’t they just tell me and be upfront about it and say hey sorry we have zero idea when you’ll get your engine and we will not do a temp fix of the short block repair.

My service dept at my dealer let me know since my truck was on the recall they put in a request for my new engine to be “released” they stated that they have a website they check twice a day and they basically see if it was approved or shipped. I guess they have no response yet… they told me they had called their district and regional reps for support. They also were totally okay and supportive of me opening a case directly with big Toyota… so I did…

Customer Support or whatever they are called, also were able to get zero response from anyone concerning the status of my engine.

At that time I asked for help in getting a loaner truck. They said their regional and district reps struck out and couldn’t help me… umm so I said please kick this to the buyback review team… so I got an email from them with some questions and the closed my other case… I called and asked to reopen that I still want an answer on when my truck will be fixed or at least an estimate and I’d love to see if they can’t continue to beat the bushes to get me a loaner truck of any flavor… I was told 60 days to get a response on the buy back…

I’ve read a couple cases of folks waiting longer than I have… I hope they give me some good news soon… either buy back for a reasonable price or have my engine to the dealership soon… I’ve even talked to my local dealer about a trade… they’re interested but want more of a timeline themselves before they do that…

Wow! It sounds like you are doing all the right things. Blowing off frustrations on the forums shouldn't affect how they react to your issues. I asked about your comments to the dealer earlier because I have heard stories from salesmen from other dealerships about how petty some dealership owners could be. I didn't want you falling into that hole.

My engine got approved! Should be sent here and done in about 2 weeks it sounds like! I don’t know if someone here helped but the timing is funny lol! Thanks for hearing me out… I won’t lie I have no idea what I’m going to do after I get it back… I’m just super duper thrilled it’s not sounding like 6 months for me… I am lucky haha

Yep it will be about a month and a half… if they receive the engine when they think and if they can get it done in the window they think. Sounds like some have had worse…
