TFL Truck of the year (Ike test) GMC Sierra

I just had to swing by and annoyingly plant the GMC flag in the dirt again. Oldest truck of the bunch, only V8 of the bunch.. best downhill, where it counts, and tied for best MPG. 2nd quickest up the hill.

Anyone else going to watch The American Revolution on PBS?

A year or two ago I stumbled upon an American revolution podcast by Michael Troy. Each episode was 30 to 45 minutes and took you from before the revolution through the revolution ...hundreds of episodes. One of the best things I've ever listened to...

GM Truck, SUV Owners Lose OnStar Cabin Temperature Feature Thanks to Software Goof

Is that starting it with the fob or the app?

    Factory alignment on new truck

The people driving new vehicles around lots and onto and off shipping platforms don't treat them like a new buyer would. Funny stories, a buddy of mine owns a body shop. Before he was out on his own he worked at the biggest Ford dealership in this area....his job? Repairing new vehicles with...

GM Truck, SUV Owners Lose OnStar Cabin Temperature Feature Thanks to Software Goof

A clarifying question, when you say remote start but it involves OnStar I assume then you're talking about the ability to start the vehicle through the app? I asked this because my truck does this if I start it using the key fob, what I've always called, possibly incorrectly, remote start. But...

    Compensation

Unfortunately, no. Not that I'm aware of. However, that's normal for most vehicles awaiting service for a recall or warranty issue. Sometimes extended warranties offer rental coverage but that's usually short term. Loaners can also be made available but that's hit or miss and also usually short...

    Tundra V6 Recall Again?

Just watched the short Tim, it's refreshing too see them take a small step towards admitting what a lot of people have known, guessed or assumed....and taken a lot of shit for lol. Now what are they going to do? If I owned a post original recall year Tundra, I would be livid at Toyota. How...

    Tundra V6 Recall Again?

The part # definitely changed, no clue how the part actually changed though.

    Tundra V6 Recall Again?

I, and many others, didn't think Toyota had addressed it. Hard to claim they did when the exact same issue kept happening in the years after the recall covered. I tend to believe they legitimately had a debris issue, thought they solved it and prayed that was the cause of the bearing spin-outs.

    Tundra V6 Recall Again?

It's all over in videos and articles so I just linked the AI response. There are videos discussing the when but no real answers other than a definite part number change in mid 2024 for the main bearings.

    Tundra V6 Recall Again?

I heard somewhere, pretty sure it was a Toyota master tech, that said there was a part number change for the bearing and something else in 2024. I'll try to find it. He thought it was a sneaky way of trying to address the issue on the down low.

    Tundra V6 Recall Again?

This was a year and a half ago, not a teardown, but good information. About 36 minutes in for main bearing teardown

    Tundra V6 Recall Again?

For me it's not really a belief thing, it's a piece of information tacked to a wall with lots of other pieces of information. I mostly believe they had an issue with debris, I also believe they have an issue with bearings. Those two can be related but they can also stand on their own. I believe...

Many New Expensive Trucks Can’t Follow California Winter Tire Chain Law

Life has been hectic. 4 high schoolers, three boys on the football team one girl on the swim team. And I started playing golf again at the end of summer... Lots of tournaments here and there but been a long time since I played individually.

    Tundra V6 Recall Again?

You can find a few of those videos out there and if I remember correctly there seems to be a pretty clear issue with the main bearings.

Trump Pardons Wyoming Diesel Mechanic in Diesel “Delete” Case

You don't hear mechanics complaining about reliability with the new emissions equipment? That shocks me. I manage a fleet on the west coast, 50ish medium to heavy duty, 40 more pickups up to 350/3500. KW, Mack, International, Ford and GM. We spends thousands and thousands of dollars a year...

Trump Pardons Wyoming Diesel Mechanic in Diesel “Delete” Case

You're right, I was trying to agree and reiterate and it came across as argumentative. I was trying to reiterate that it's not about the police officers but I also don't think it's about the process being inefficient, which it very much is, but in these cases it's about prosecutors and judges...

Trump Pardons Wyoming Diesel Mechanic in Diesel “Delete” Case

This isn't about police officers not doing they're job Tim. This is about prosecutors not bringing charges and judges letting people off. Or, in the reverse, prosecutors bringing silly charges wasting our money and complicit judges.
