Fuel Economy ratings for the 2.7 are 19/23/20 versus the 2.3 which are 20/24/22 according to www.fueleconomy.gov. The engine in the Ranger is rated at 315 HP and 400 lb ft of torque when using premium fuel.

Tim, I wonder why GM does not use the 10-speed in the mid size trucks. How much faster did the Ranger Raptor feel compared to the base Ranger? Are we going to see the 2.7 in the Ranger anytime soon?

At what point does the consumer NOT purchase these expensive trucks anymore? The manufacturers keep building them and people keep buying them. Are some buyers taking out a mortgage instead of a car loan? It really is incredible.

What is the reason though? The 10-speed transmission? The 3.73 gears? Is the truck substantially lighter? Ford underrating the power numbers? GM has 430 lb-ft of torque and could not beat it. Seems odd. Something is not adding up.

$2,200 is a good chunk of change to dole out after everything else. A loaded up Lariat is over $54k at that point. You might as well go with the Raptor. The 2.3L is very solid and although the power numbers suggest it lags behind the competition, the performance videos on YT say otherwise...

All depends on what you want. ZR2 might be enough for some people. Others might want the Bison. Either way, better value in my eyes than TRD Pro.. Ranger Raptor is the best value to me. Just my opinion, which isn’t much. So be it.

My local dealer says they have one on the lot. Big Horn 4x4 with 5' 7" bed. Big Horn 2, Night Edition, Bed Utility Group. $60,085. Does NOT have SST engine, has Pentastar. I wonder how long it will last. Not sure it is worth 30 min drive each way in the rain... I am tempted to go look though.
