Tim's become a glutton for punishment.

It's an important distinction and one that I think is being used to manipulate a little frankly. The average person even if you are a truck person thinks of light medium and heavy duty as half ton, 3/4 ton and one ton. And on the front that is how the EPA defines them but they take that one...

Tim's become a glutton for punishment.

I had read 8 years 80,000 mi or whichever comes first. Edit: That may just be what they're doing warranty-wise.

Tim's become a glutton for punishment.

I confirmed this, the new EPA warranty for 450k only applies to Class 8 which are Long haul semi trucks and large commercial vehicles. So much for any win for the traditional consumer. Even the 450 and 550 aren't in Class 8.

    Future business plan/goal

Who cares about Tim's money, make this happen Tim! Everyone can sleep in a different truck!

If that's the case... no win for us regular dudes, though it would help fleets.

Tim's become a glutton for punishment.

I can't look it up right now but what exactly does the EPA classify as a "Heavy Duty Vehicle" that would be affected by the new warranty? I think it's 8,500 GVW+ but they then break that category into different sections? I guess I'm wondering if 2500's & 3500's are going to be included or just...

Chevy Silverado, GMC Sierra, GM SUVs recall: wheels lock up

I like that rule but I also feel like the cost to the manufacturer will just get pushed down to the customer in pricing.

Free truck - What are you picking?

    Hahaha ok valid

Free truck - What are you picking?

Decent choice, but this is in the new purchasing subforum. ;)

Free truck - What are you picking?

Lots of new trucks the last couple of years... if the money wasn't yours and you had to buy a truck, what are you choosing? Mid-Size Half Ton Heavy duty For me it breaks down like this: Mid-size is probably a dead heat between the GMC Canyon AT4X (Not the bison) and the Tacoma Trail Hunter...

Tim's become a glutton for punishment.

I watched that one and thought it interesting, I tried researching about the company "Engine Technology Forum" and found they use to be called "Diesel Technology Forum." It's a non-profit and he is essentially a lobbyist who is raising funds and then connecting them to states, agencies and...

Thinking like a dealer on the delete.

You're right of course, but in many cases I don't think the expansions of these dpeartments to the huge rule/law making juggernauts they are now could have been forseen. Is it possible they've used rulings on specific items to assume legality to legislate above and beyond the intial intentions...

Thinking like a dealer on the delete.

You're not wrong but that can be really tricky, especially in today's climate. Not to mention, supreme court rulings on the EPA would deter a different named but similar department from trying similar regulations. I wasn't entirely sure so I had to use AI to help: Creating a new federal...

Thinking like a dealer on the delete.

I'm not sure that would work if the supreme court issues a ruling limiting the reach of the EPA?

Thinking like a dealer on the delete.

I think Trump is hoping his executive orders get challenged in courts and that the supreme Court takes up some of these issues, which I think they will be forced to do. They will set the precedent for the reach of the EPA and other regulatory agencies. He has done interviews saying the first...

Are deleted diesel trucks legal after EPA deregulation news?

I don't think EV's are junk, but I tend to agree with Mr. Clarkson... the reason I grew up loving to drive was as much about the experience, joy and freedom as the necessity of transportation itself. Driving an EV is like driving an appliance... it has no soul. As for the other parts, as long...

Are deleted diesel trucks legal after EPA deregulation news?

The problem with making a video on this topic is that it seems to just now be the beginning. The people making videos saying CARB is dead and you can now delete your diesels are wrong, but they don't appear to be any more wrong than people saying nothing changed. It's tricky to follow and I...

    XPEL PPF and ceramic coating

It's one of the few things I could never force myself to do, I thought about it a lot. Living in the PNW we get a lot of mist and rain for 8 months out of the year and running through a quick car wash is the best option sometimes. In the spring we get hammered with various pollens that will coat...

My gripe of the night: New RAM 2500

Coils for the 2500 and leafs for the 3500 but that's not necessarily the limiting factor. It's that they won't raise their GVWR up to the mark that GM and Ford have because in some states and provinces it can push you into commercial vehicle licenses, higher fees etc. as mentioned above. GVWR...

My gripe of the night: New RAM 2500

I get the GVWR rating what continues to baffle me is that they don't offer it, an increase, do they?
