    3rd Gen Engine Failures

You nailed it and I almost typed out a similar response. They don't lead in tech, infotainment, options, comfort, interior as whole, truck capability, off-road capability, performance etc. etc. They have reliability and resale value. However, the resale part is going to take a massive hit not...

    3rd Gen Engine Failures

If you find that weird you haven't spent enough time on Toyota forums Tim lol I've said it a dozen times it's one of the most aggressive owner groups in defending Toyota reliability that I've come across in ownership forums.

    GM Seats

I'm the same way. My 21 Sierra AT4 seats feel harder than normal to the touch but I find them comfortable even on very long road trips. The wife's Expedition has super soft squishy seats that after a few hours I'm not a fan of.

Are Luxury Vehicles Still Really Lux and Turbos

I rented a Silverado with the 2.7 on a recent trip to the bay area. (actually had a midsize reserved, was hoping for a Tacoma but they were out) I was pleasantly surprised, over 400 miles I was right around 20mpg and it had more get up and go than I expected. It's smoother and quiter than a V8...

    3rd Gen Engine Failures

Maybe it's just what we qualify as a design flaw but I disagree pretty strongly. If an engine is designed to work with a specific fuel pump and it has a widespread failure that is a design flaw in my mind. They were designed to work together and it did not work out. GM has widespread lifter...

    3rd Gen Engine Failures

Well it is spinning main bearings at a rate not really seen in a recent engine, at first it was 2022 having issues, now 2023 and probably 2024. As I said back in the beginning of this thread, we won't ever know the truth. If Toyota doesn't want people to speculate, own up but they won't do that...

    Tim's Tacoma Review

You're correct about the lane centering, all of the manufacturers seem to go about that differently. Our Expedition literally fights you when you approach a line, it's annoying and I think not safe because it's so forceful. My AT4 is much less intrusive and if I'm applying resistance on the...

    Tim's Tacoma Review

The TRD-OR that @Beninbeta got was mid 50's is IIRC. I compare the ZR2 to the TRD-OR and the GMC AT4. The Bison and AT4X are quite a bit more and compare to the Ranger, TRD Pro and TH.

    Ranger Raptor vs. Colorado ZR2

If price is a concern go ZR2, it can be had for 7-10k cheaper and still be pretty loaded. Personally I think the interior is nicer on the GM regardless of spec. Plus, less chance of having to play the markup game on the ZR2 vs the Raptor. If price isn't a worry I would change the ZR2 to the GMC...

    Tim's Tacoma Review

Of the halo trucks I agree the Ranger looks to be the best value, for the next tier down I think the best value is a loaded ZR2. All tech options, safety options and sunroof for $51,800 incl dest. That's adapt cruise, HD vision surround cameras, Heated and cooled seats, BOSE sound etc. I prefer...

    Tim's Tacoma Review

Dave, elaborate for us. I watched the video and I'm confused. In the video you say the power is fine, gave it pretty high scores on everything except interior. You said the price is fine and where you expect it to be, mid '50s. I expected the end of the video to have concluding thoughts to match...

    3rd Gen Engine Failures

I have to guess it will have some sort of an impact but I don't think it will really show up in the numbers much. The average consumer isn't as deep into the weeds as we are with our trucks. Most people still think of Toyota as the leader in reliability but that hasn't been the case with their...

    Toyota crash test cheating

Reading a little deeper it looks like Honda and Mazda apologized but that whatever they did wasn't affecting outcomes? Whereas Toyotas cheating was directly affecting outcome of tests. That makes it seem like Mazda was just using outdated techniques instead of purposely doing anything that...

    Tim's Tacoma Review

You think so? It seems like watching people get in the Ranger it's noticably more room than the Tacoma and Colorado/Canyon. If you're a parent with kids that matters a lot, or it did to me.

    Tim's Tacoma Review

I just watched this video as I was on the road most of last week for work. I agree with a lot of Tim's points specifically on the back seat and pricing structure. The sway bar disconnect is a cool feature and I'm glad Toyota did they needed something, it but I feel like more people would...

TFL Denver 100 MPG Loop New Ram Rebel, AT4X, Tremor

I think this topic deserves a deep dive video into real world MPG between the new age of turbo engines and the newer v8s. Not just looking at EPA numbers or 100 mile loops. I'm in the Bay area now for work and rented a midsize but they were out so they upped to me to a full size brand new...
