Future business plan/goal

So I have this business thought/goal that I think about from time to time. My thought is I'd buy a new truck from each of the automakers and rent a warehouse to store them. Then, every week or few days do comparison videos like towing, interiors, fuel economy runs, night time, etc... I'd buy all the same trims and do themes. Like one year, I'd do all work trucks. Another year all luxury. Another year all mid-trim levels. Just wish I was a bigger channel and could afford this plan.

Thoughts?

I would be interested for sure but the cost of it would be astronomical! Could you do it for a week using enterprise, Thuro or a similar car rental service? It could help offset the cost and long term storage issue.

It'd be a busy week ;)

The challenge would be lining everything up with consistent trim levels and equipment. Also, interestingly, Turo states you can't take vehicles you rent off-road or tow with them. I found that in their terms of service. Meanwhile, a lot of people on Turo are buying Jeeps and renting them out for "off-road adventures." Pretty sure Turo is turning a blind eye to this activity.

Yeah the big disadvantage of going the rental route is availability of specific trim.

Do you think you could build your fleet over time? Let's say you buy one truck a year until you have all 4, then you replace the trucks as refresh come out. You could then compare your fleet with the press fleet full of luxury trucks.

Example: You could have kept the f150, tundra and the chevy, you could then have added a ram, non rho ;), and you would have had all 4 trucks. You would then swap the chevy when it gets refresh, the ford the year after, etc.

No sure if it works for tax purposes or how much money you would need to sustain this.

I could do that, but I'd have to be essentially 3 times the size the outlet is now for that to work financially.

The only way you'd be able to test every brand, model, color, and configuration is if you teamed up with a CARMAX store. Then take a different one out on an extended test drive every week for a new video on something specific about that one. Or take two for head-to-head comparisons of a certain feature they both have. It wouldn't work with the same trucks for a year. During the year of work-trucks, what to do all the luxo-commuter truck buyers watch? Or the sporty RHO type buyers? Everything about truck ownership is so personalized. It's the biggest fault with most YT long-term reviews; it branches away as it gets too narrow and loses the broader audience.

You missed a close opportunity to do it this year with Heather driving a truck. If you had gotten another mid-size like the Ranger and you both drove them daily for a year doing comparisons, that would have been great content. You could swap driving every week and for different tasks, and it'll be pretty clear, pretty quickly, which is each of your favorite for those tasks or trips and why. Well, there's always next year. Think Heather would drive a 2500 HD for a year as a daily?

Teaming up with a store or dealer could be a great option.
