Andrei's "new" (to him) truck

Tim is waiting for his RHO, I know we can't wait to see him drive it and report. Andrei / TFL just traded in his 2023 Colorado Trail Boss for a 2019 Tundra TRD. Dave and Kelly / All Terrain Nation recently acquired a Bronco Raptor. Plenty of potential updates to look forward to.

I thought the Andre video was odd. I skimmed through it and didn't hear all the reasoning. Just odd to go so far back in time IMO.

Maybe TFL isn't doing as well as it once was or because Andre bought it for himself, he's feeling the pinch of new trucks too. No tax break for him on that one probably.

I think it just shows that new trucks are too expensive. He was able to afford a base F150 in 2021 and the same truck is 10-15k more than it was back then. His budget seemed to be around 50 000$ and well even work trucks with 4x4 are above that.

I also found it weird that he went so old, but at the same time, it's his truck and not TFL's truck. I don't expect to see a lot of content from the Tundra, except if they try something with sponsors.

Frankly, I don’t understand why he even needs to buy a personal truck with their fleet of vehicles. It seems like they only bring them out to a do a video. I guess I’m different. I’d want my team driving my vehicles not theirs.

It was surprising to see he went for a 2019 vehicle. Especially since he said he wanted to own new trucks and test them long term, when he bought the Colorado. He did say in this video that he wanted to own a V8 while there were still a few around. Of course the price is a determining factor and new trucks with a V8, 4 wheel drive and a crew cab are expensive. I must say, the exhaust note was intoxicating. The interior is so dated, it does not even look like 2019 standards. I really thought he was going to go for a discounted new RAM 1500.

I guess he goes on vacation long enough with his boat that they could not loan him a company trucks that fits his needs?

Yeah that Tundra interior looks and feel old. I was the same as you, I thought for sure he was getting a RAM, either a Hemi or the new Hurricane.

Seems like a miss from a content point of view. I don`t care that much about an older truck. There`s already a 100000000000 videos about it. including from Tim and Jill. The reality of ownership has already been covered and it`s not old enough to wonder actually how it compares to newer trucks.

Personally, wouldn't want a loaner every day, or every week I would want my own truck. He put 20,000 miles on in in a year and a half'ish so he definitely uses it quite a bit. My feeling is there isn't a lot of new and exciting out there in the truck world right now compared to the last several years. The RAM has a new engine which is cool but has also been out for a little bit in the SUV's and the rest of it is underwhelming change wise. There does seem to be a trend of people wanting to know where the values are, this last gen Tundra definitely answers that. I could see a series of videos on what's changed in the last 5 years among other things. At the end of the day it's a great truck for >25-30,000 less than new.

As good as that last gen Tundra was, it also says something about the new gen and not just the engine issues. Toyota can't be happy that two large reviewers have either traded the new one in or just decided to buy the last gen instead. That's not a good look.

When I was looking in 2021 I almost went with a TRD Pro Tundra but yea, even in the last year of the old gen they were still lacking in some of the options I wanted.

His last 3 or 4 have been his own personal vehicle that he purchased. I do think in general auto review YouTube channels are fighting for less viewers.

I think its because if you watch one auto reviewer you've watched them all, they test the same vehicles, nearly all have the same opinions about the vehicles they test.

I've been very consistent this year with regards to views. I think what's getting old is the click bait channels.
I wouldn't expect the good channels to hemmorage subs but I do think the peak of new Truck based YT content was in 2020-2023 during COVID when nothing was on the lots. Many channels exploded with subs during that time, I actually would have expected your channel to grow quite a bit in the last 2-3 years. What does your view or interaction metric look like over the last couple of years?

Great points, but a last generation Tundra is not comparing a truck from last generation, it`s comparing a truck from 2007. Maybe it`s a guy from Canada speaking, but vehicles do not last this long up here because of rust and winter. The older ones are usually 10 years old and this is even more dated.

I agree, it`s a great truck and I hope it well serve him well, heck I`m still considering buying the exact truck Andre bought for himself when my lease is up on my Ford Ranger.

Andre's new truck is a 2019 Tundra TRD PRO

Just confused on the comments. I thought you were implying that a 2019 Tundra is really a much older vehicle inside, not too far from the truth, but then talked about them holding up in Canada and that "the old ones are usually 10 years old and this is even more dated"

His Tundra is only 5 years old.

Pretty consistent. The peaks are when I bought a new truck like the first peak was the 2022 Tundra. This is October 8, 2021 through today.

It is funny people used to tell me once you hit this subscriber threshold or this other threshold (25k subs, 100k subs), your channel is just going to EXPLODE. It really hasn't happened like that for me. I've had rare times of growth, but it is truck related, nothing to do with the sub count.

That's really interesting, thank you for sharing it. Is it an anomaly that you're +56k subs but views and watch rate are mostly flatlined? I wonder what the analyticals would take away from that?

Sorry my poor writing skills came out haha.

What I meant is that even though the truck is a 2019, the interior is closer to a 2007, meaning we won't get a lot of value comparing that old interior to the newer trucks. It`s the equivalent of him comparing a 2007 Ford F150 to a 2024 and not a 2019 to a 2024.

Hopefully I was able to make it clearer.

And that's exactly why I always buy the newest truck. Nobody wants to see slightly used trucks especially when the new model has been changed to the degree the Tundra has since 2022.
