New video format

Trying out a new video format I’ve seen others do. This is my first attempt and I’ll need to get better at it. Literally figured this out as I was leaving my hotel room. Thoughts? Ignore the topic.

Is this oil filter location going to frustrate new 2025 #ramtrucks 1500 owners and mechanics?

I personally never cared for that format for that type of video. The only time it seems to work is when the creator wants you to see their reaction to something shown above their image. (As if it was the first time they have seen it...lol) As for a detailed description like you did, sure, show your smiling face, then disappear and show us in greater detail what you are talking about, then flip back to just your face as you summarize and close it out. But hey, that's just one opinion. I do agree it wasn't worth a 10 min video though.

By the way, I still think the filter location is pretty good spot compared to what a Ram with a Hemi has.

Oil filters have been a bear on the Rams since the 4th gen already. On my truck with the 4x4 it's almost impossible to get out without spilling the used oil. I fixed that by running an oil filter relocation kit, moved it right to the frame/bumper and its the best mod I've done. No spills, and no more oil running down the harness and getting into my 4x4 actuator.

As you mentioned, they use the same engine in multiple places so it's a tough problem to avoid.

When you are throwing in B footage, this format works fine. It even makes sense. Live format, not so much.

As for the filter, yeah that's a pain in the butt! Did anyone see where the O2 sensors are located? How is anyone supposed to get to those when the body is attached? It looks like they will be right against the firewall.

You left out an important detail. This is a YouTube Short aka TikTok aka Instagram Reel. In this format we don't get the gray bars on the side. The split screen is definitely ok here.

What’s really interesting, well to me anyway, is the video is taking off on TikTok. Not on Instagram and not really on YouTube even as a short without the gray bars. This crap will drive you nuts trying to figure out why one works on one platform and not others.

Wouldn't doubt it. And I have seen some good Tik Toks. I just can't log into all these social media and spend that amount of time. I can be such a time-suck. One of the reasons I never created a FB account.

I have TikTok on my phone but I don't use it much anymore, it's still there tho. I'm always surprised how many of by friends engage with it regularly. As mentioned that format works well on TikTok, Instagram etc. I'm not a fan on YouTube but then I don't really watch any of the shorts either but the view count they get, somebody is watching.

I've been shocked at the Tik Tok response to the oil filter video I did above. Tons of lube techs and long-time Ram owners chiming in that the placement is better than the Hemi V8. Frankly, I don't care about that, I'm much more interested in amount of truck owners chiming in. I had thought Tik Tok was just for jokes, fashion and was geared towards women.

The stats TikTok has are staggering. Something like half of all Americans log on at least once a month. I know they say Gen Z users are the majority of users but hey, they are old enough to own trucks now.

There are TONS of creators specifically geared towards men and men things. In my circle I know just as many men on TikTok as women.
