Toyota Digital Key Impressions

Howdy folks,

Has anyone here had experience using Toyota's digital key system. Basically I'm interested to know if you ditched your physical key and just used your phone. If so how well did it work? The Tesla system is pretty much the gold standard with that feature, from my experience. Our Hyundai Tuscson has it and it's not worth using. You have to tap the phone to the door to get it to open and place the phone on the charging pad to get the vehicle to start. Then because we have the limited I still have plug-in to use CarPlay/Android Auto. Basically, it's not worth the hassle. So I'm curious if Toyota has done better.

Sorry, never used one. I guess I'm just too old school for all these new fancy features. LOL
 
I'm with Tim, no matter how well it worked I would be irritated with the neccessity and not judge it accordingly lol. Just give me a key or a fob. That process doesn't need to be innovated any further. Plus, the phone route seems like it's just a step down the path closer to charging you to operate your vehicle.
 
It's definitely a way to charge you to operate your vehicle, unless the company is Tesla. However, as I think both of you have said in the past once you try something, even if you think it'll suck, and it's actually pretty awesome, you want the feature in every vehicle. Heated Seats, steering wheel, remote start.....

I have been to the world and not having to every think about my key was amazing!
