Broke down 300 miles from home.

I was driving back from visting my mom in NJ and still about 300 miles from my home in NC when I felt a shudder in the transmission. Pulled into a gas station. Truck bucked when I backed it into a spot, and the back up camera was blurry. I got out of the truck and the tailgate was covered in oil and there was oil (I believe transmission oil) all over the underside of the truck. Had it flatbeded to the local dealer but they were already closed for the night. Service person told me it would probably be Wednesday before the could even look at it. I'm holed up in a hotel for the night, I'll look for a rental car tomorrow.

Just got some good news. Dealer got the truck in today to inspect. The transmission controller lines need to be replaced. The lines have been ordered and should be in tomorrow. Dealer actually sent me a video of the underside of the truck. Everything will be covered under warranty.

That's a pretty cool thing for the dealer to do! Now, how many times did you watch that video? Be honest. LOL.

It was a cool move on the dealers part. I was a bit uncomfortable leaving my truck with an unknown dealer 300 miles from home, but them sending me the video, and getting my truck into the shop earlier than expected set has gone a long way to setting my mind at ease.

Great news! Did you mean cooler lines? That would definitely explain the oil everywhere.
It's possible he said transmission cooler lines. The video is a litttle garbled and I haven't seen the work order yet. I spoke to the shop yesterday. They told me they are still waiting on one part that will hopefully be in today.

The dealer had all the parts on Thursday, and I had been told the truck would be ready on Monday. When I spoke to them yesterday afternoon, they hadn't even started working on in. The service manager was out, but the person I spoke with said the truck should be worked today, so that I can pick it up Wednesday morning.

Sucks getting mixed messages. Unfortunately, that's life at times. Got bumped or somebody didn't get the memo.

Update #2. The good news is they are working on my truck, the bad news is they've never done this job in one of the newer models, and apparently its more complicated than the previous model. Best case is late tomorrow afternoon. I'm 3 hours away from the dealership, so not picking it up tomorrow, even if its done, and I'll be tied up on Thursday at work, so it looks like best case is now Friday.
