New to me, 2022 Tundra SR5 OR

Hi all,

I finally moved on from my Ranger and the dreadful transmission and got a 2022 Toyota Tundra SR5 OR long bed! Ended up in a Tundra for a couple of reasons:
  • Price
  • Comfort
  • Simple gauge cluster with needles
  • Buttons for all important functions like hvac, drive mode, lights control, etc.
  • Toyota is trying to address the problem in the trucks, unlike the other half-ton manufacturer.
  • Good off-road equipment
  • Overbuilt frame and mechanical components
I considered several other vehicles while I was shopping, some of you might remember the threads hahaha, but the Tundra ended up on top with the 1500 from GMC/Chevrolet being a close second. The cost of diesel, the added maintenance and poor seat comfort made them come in second place. Ram's with the hurricanes were too expensive, and I was not interested in the 5.7 hemi. Ford is having way to many issues right now for me to consider them.

HD trucks were eliminated when I spent 5 weeks with one last year. The fuel economy hit and the everyday ride were so bad that it was not worth putting up with it year round, even if I needed the payload 30-40 times a year. I will be buying a bigger trailer and move the gas and water that I carry to it and free up some payload on the truck.

As for mods, I added a backrack and should be receiving my running boards and new tires within the next two weeks, hopefully before we can start going into the bush. Will be adding a front bumper and some more skidplates in the coming months.

Here are some pictures of the truck:

Installed the running boards and the new tires. Went for the RPT2 running boards from rough country and the cooper stronghold at in LT275/70R18 for the tires.

There's still too much snow on the ground to go up by truck to the hunting camp, but I was able to backup to the start of the trail and go with a SXS. It doesn't look like much on the picture, but there are still some places with a feet and a half of ice frozen over creeks so when you go trough it, you break the ice and get stuck in this weird ice dam that you can't climb out of.

I'm really enjoying the truck so far and all of the additional space.
