Tim

Just wanted to drop by and say good job with the truck intro video. Thanks for taking some of your aloted time and devoting it to talking to the lead development engineer for the engine.

Do you think you'll get another chance to talk to him or another development engineer for Ram? It would be interesting to cultivate a list of questions your audience might have for the next interaction.

Happy to help you develop that list if you need some of us to go through comments and build one. I know I would have a few questions I'd ask if given the opportunity.

It’s always interesting, at least for me, when Tim interviews the lead engineer on various vehicle topics, especially engine design. As I watched this video I read through the comments. I would say it seemed that most were negative about the engine design. I doubt very much that design engineers are going to make engines simpler it’s just the nature and evolution of the beast.

Oh I agree, we don't want any political or negative comments back to the engineers. They can see that on their own.

I just thought there might be other questions folks had that would be nice to have in a list at the ready in case another opportunity presents itself. I haven't looked recently at the comments at Tim's or TFL's video.

That's what I always find comical. People rail and whine about how things get more complicated but then complain the same if it isn't a big upgrade in power/performance from previous. I truly believe they just hate change in any form.

It's got to be the toughest balancing point to design changes without those changes being alienating. It's why at the end of the day; they must follow the sales figures. It either sells, or it doesn't.

I loved it! The ease of servicing the Cummins was a joy to see. All pickups should be designed/engineered with the ability to be serviced in the field. I wish they had thought of this when they developed the hurricane inline six.

I agree. I wanted to love the inline six. I tried to buy one this summer, but at $89k for a loaded limited (MSRP), the dealership just couldn't get enough money off to compare with my Chevrolet High Country.

I'm curious how Tim's truck does over time. There are some very big horror stories out right now up on the Jeep Wagoneer forums...but then again its a new engine in their platform.

I was disappointed Ram did nothing to address the 6.4 Hemi's shortcomings. They need a bit more power in that engine and to address the MDS system's reliability issues. There's a growing number of diesel guys who would be willing to try a gas truck in order to gain reliability.

Sorry it took me so long to see this. That’s a good video idea. I’ve done that kind of thing before. I’ll get a chance to see him again in a few months at a first drive. I’ll ask for input soon.

I should have asked about the lifters. That’s my big takeaway. I hadn’t seen that as an issue in my research.
