E or SL Rating for the Wildpeak AT4W

Hey All,
So the new Taco arrives in a few weeks, I'm going to put stock size AT4Ws on it. But I'm not experience enough to make an informed decision between E and SL rated tires.

Both have 3ply sidewall.
Situation:
  • This Taco will by our only vehicle, so we'll be driving it anywhere we go.
  • We will be using it to Overland for however long we can. Mostly in Colorado/Utah
  • We we mostly be tackling intermediate rated trails (Trails Offroad ratings)
  • Once these wear out, we might switch the suspension, lift the vehicle and add larger tires so E might make more sense then
  • I don't know how much worse the ride quality would be with E vs SL, but if E is way more robust for Offroad, I might be willing to make that trade.
Thoughts?

I would have made this a Poll, but that wasn't an option. I'm posting here rather than some the the 4G forums because I trust the advice here more.

I ran both on my Tacoma, P rated Hankook ATM, E rated Duratracs and back to P rated Falken Wilpeaks. My favorite set purely performance wise were the Duratracs but I went back to P rated because I felt the E was way overkill on my truck. It created a harsher ride, felt it drove the truck if that makes sense and it killed MPG in the 4.0 V6. I towed a 3800lb trailer and both sets were fine with it. Tons of minor off-roading and never had an issue with any of them.

A lot of Tacoma guys like C rated instead of E...

Thanks, with that last engine you kind of had to go C/SL right?

I think you can see that post without being a member, I updated that thread for a long time. I ended up selling the truck with about 20k miles on the Falkens and didn't update it after. It was definitely more of a comparison of quality of the tire and performance, not really getting into the P vs LT issue.

I would go with load rating C like @Fightnfire suggested. That's what I have on my truck, a Ford Ranger tremor so similar to your Tacoma. Load range E is way overkill for our trucks unless you're ready to sacrifice quite a bit of fuel economy and comfort.

Thanks, based on what both of and @Fightnfire said and Tyler from Independence Overland, that is my plan. Now, I'm just twiddling my thumbs until It get a real arrival date and I can schedule the tires install.
