Consumer Reports least reliable 2025 trucks

Crazy how the numbers are so different year to year.
Hmm as I said the other day, my truck has had ZERO recalls in its life. 2021 Sierra. My dad's 2021 F150 ... Somewhere north of 22 with some trims over 25.

Never been a big consumer reports fan but I don't know.

Seems odd.

It is odd. The brand new 2025 F150 already has 3 recalls. Looking at CR's reviews, the reliability numbers change quite a bit per MY. For example: They list the 2024 F150 as 5 out of 5 in reliability yet the 25, 23, and the 22 as 2 out of 5. What was so special about 2024 builds? For 2025, no difference between all the brands, they are all 2 out of 5. The only consistent thing is the Ford hybrid F150 is 1 out of 5 since 2022 just like Tim pointed out. Yet they still rate the Ram as the best pick overall for 2025.

There are issues with all the brands, can’t be avoided with all the parts that are in today’s vehicles. My neighbour and I could buy the same truck, mine could be trouble free and theirs could be riddled with issues. I’ve had three f-150’s and two Ram 1500 since 2008 and all of them have served me well. No issues to speak of and a few recalls which isn’t out of the ordinary now a days. All of them are just pleasure trucks, don’t use them for work and only towed a small trailer or boat on occasion so maybe that makes a difference. My next truck will probably be in 2027 when my TRX warranty runs out. GMC Sierra 1500 AT4 with the 3.0 Duramax, that looks like a solid truck.

I've had a hard time with Consumer Reports for decades now. It always seemed like they hate on pickup trucks, giving them lower ratings against passenger cars, and when I looked at their used car guide, I would see blank spaces where the rating (symbols) should be for the last four years.

I'd love it if Tim could do an interview with one of their reviewers and have them explain why these results are the way they are. How they test their trucks and why the blanks spaces in the magazine.

I find it funny that as soon as the consumer reports report came out one of my YT suggested videos had a click bait one claiming a vehicle had a 97% failure rate. Sounds like a Hyundai pony from back in the day. I wouldn’t click on it…
I take all of the survey results with a grain of salt unless I can see the raw data that the conclusions are based on.
If I’m not mistaken a lot of interpretation goes into the consumer reports ratings so they are very subjective to a certain extent.
We all like when our vehicle gets a good rating though…lol

They won’t talk to me. My friend at CR WILL talk to me, but their producers won’t talk to me on video or a podcast. They are afraid of me apparently. I’d love to talk with them. I’d respect them and they have a lot to offer.

Once again, subjectivity comes out from a CR review. There's a lot of products review that are flat out wrong like lawnmowers, snowblowers and trucks. They seem to have a hard time with anything that has an engine in it.
