It's not the engine that's the problem, its all of the ridiculous complicated crap they bolt onto it, the giant complex plastic thermostat for instance, or a wet belt oil pump belt, its ridiculous.

Got into a wreck today up in the woods, a Ford Ranger was cutting a curve and drove head on into my Nissan Frontier, pretty sure it's totaled. Of course they had no insurance, I have uninsured motorist coverage and I'm hoping it covers my truck, I guess I will find out.

I have to say, I like Nissan pickups, they are better than Toyota pickups IMO (shots fired) Don't get me wrong I still like Toyotas but in my experience Nissans have been less trouble.
