    .

Thanks for the heads up on cycling and the tip on dealing with start/stop. I really need to dig into the manual. Beyond setting up the gauges I wanted I haven't done much with the data monster. Have either of you gotten any pushback from a dealer over having an iDash installed? A couple of...

Buy a different Ram truck for me?

One of the things I enjoyed with your High County coverage was the mods you did on the Babymax. I'd imagine Hurricane will be getting a bit of attention from the aftermarket in the coming year. Would make for some interesting content that other content creators who don't own the truck won't be...

Thoughts on over the air updates

One issue that I've read about with the OnStar implementation is that in the time it takes the police to confirm the car is stolen the thieves can disable the OnStar module, so no shutdown or tracking. Would only apply to your more proficient thieves, but it's disappointing that disabling it...

The EPA on Truck Episode's missed point

I’m guessing that most engineers are designing to a desired MTBF (Mean Time Between Failures). What MTBF they shoot for will be limited by what’s technically feasible as well as what’s viable from a cost perspective. I’m not seeing any planed obsolescence though it does seem to be a prevalent...

The EPA on Truck Episode's missed point

I don’t think so. The EPA estimates are released long after the design decisions on the vehicle have been made. The manufacturers already done extensive testing to include the expected life of the vehicle. I can’t see the EPA estimates telling them something they don’t already know.

    TFL Mega Ike - 5 Mid-size trucks

Im not a fan of decals either. I do wonder though if removing them hurts resale value.

Thoughts on over the air updates

I believe I’ve only had a single update on my 24 GMC AT4 and it completed without any issues. Since safety and reliability features are tied into the software giving users the option of which updates to apply may open the manufacturer up to liability concerns.

    Fitness journey

Dry needle didn’t work for me, hopefully you’ll have better results. Worst case is you eliminate it as an option and move on to the next form of treatment. That was the most frustrating part of my PT. The first 4 months we were just trying different things. Once we hit on what worked for me...

Aftermarket parts, dealerships and voiding warranties

Looks like that may not be accurate. According to this site the Magnuson-Moss act allows for recovery of attorneys fees if you prevail in contesting the decision. https://www.yourlemonlawrights.com/magnuson-moss-warranty-act

Aftermarket parts, dealerships and voiding warranties

My understanding is that the Global B platform is locked down much more firmly than Global B and setting that were available to the dealership are no longer available. Not sure if Pulsar has broken the encryption or just found a way to get around it. It is interesting though how some...

Aftermarket parts, dealerships and voiding warranties

Possibly. I might not have been clear in my post but the service associates point was that GM might void my warranty, not the dealership. While there are laws that allow us to modify vehicles, laws are open to interpretation, which is why we have courts. Going to court to contest GM’s decision...

Aftermarket parts, dealerships and voiding warranties

Mine is more permanently mounted to the driver side pillar. I could remove it but it would be a hassle. If it’s an easy removal you may want to do so, but you may also have a dealer that’s not going to see it as an issue. I’ll be taking the truck back to the dealer in a few months for the free...

    Ask the Toyota Engineers, Tim

I once responded to a forum thread that I trust the judgement of the engineers who designed the engine far more than the collective knowledge of random dudes on Reddit. Shortly after someone responded, “My brother in law, knows a guy, who used to work with those engineers, and can confirm they...

Aftermarket parts, dealerships and voiding warranties

Got a CEL on my 3 month old AT4 yesterday. I pinged OnStar and they let me know my truck was throwing a P2297 fault which I confirmed with my Banks iDash. According to the iDash it's an O2 sensor fault, but my understanding is that diesels don’t have O2 sensors and it’s likely associated with...

What did you do with your truck today?

Just watched @Beninbeta video on the Kuat Ibex. I’m going to retire in a few years and one of my ambitions is to set my AT4 up for overlanding and hit the road for a couple of months. I’ll be keeping this system in mind and very interested in hearing more of Ben’s experiences with the set up.

GM sharing Smart Driver data with insurance companies.

Going to pull this one back up again as I recently received some more information. For those that were unaware GM was sharing the Smart Driver data with Verisk as well as Lexis Nexis. I have received my report from both companies and there are some differences in the way data is being reported...
